Hi All!!!  I am pregnant and a nervous wreck.  I found out that I am having a girl and I have had facial hair for years.  I am so worried that she is going to come out with facial hair.  I just need reassurance that she will be fine.  Have any of you ever thought about this and had the baby and no hair?  Thanks!!!!

Hi. Did you have excess hair when you were a baby? I think that is a more likely answer to your question. I have PCOS and had a little girl. I was undiagnosed when I had my daughter and I had her prematuly do to some infection that no one could tell I had, not because of PCOS. But you should make sure your docs are all aware of your PCOS condition anyway. My daughter was perfect except she was very small because she was premature. As far as I understand it, PCOS is something you get when you hit puberty or later on in adult hood...not when your a baby or child. So you won't have any of the symptoms like excess hair. There is a possibility your daughter will have PCOS when she grows up...but because you know about it she can be more aware of the symptoms and be treated for it sooner. PCOS isn't the end of the world you just have to take care of it. I am hoping with weight loss my PCOS will resolve itself to the point of not having to worry about it. Who knows though. Good luck with your new baby and Congrats!

Nah...your little girl should be just fine!  I also have an issue with facial hair and my daughter is just fine...perfectly healthy.  I didn't start having an issue with facial hair until my PCOS went out of control in my early 20s.  Congrats on your pregnancy!  How soon until your little girl arrives (roughly...lol) Kristy

Hi Jenni, I have a 6 yr old daughter...i wasnt officially diagnosed with pcos when i was pregnant but i had been having the irregular periods and occasional chin hair...after i had her my periods got regular but i darn near grow a full beard now.  so my symptoms kind of fluctuate, and i just had a transvaginal ultrasound and my doctor says i have a few cysts developing on my ovaries that i didnt have before.  anyway on to my daughter...she is very hairy and has been since she was born.   now her father and i and my dad are all very hairy in general (i have hair on my toes and knuckles--thank god for my waxer lady lol) so i expected some in her.  but she does have hair on her back (not thick or coarse, but its noticeable and she has dark hair) and hairy legs and a faint moustache.  She also has hair on her pubic area, but it is not pubic hair...her drs check it at every checkup just to make sure she doesnt have abnormal hormones...she is more like downy/lightly furry all over.  its not problematic for her now, but i can see how it might aggravate her as she gets older. she actually made me shave her legs the other day, and i told her that wouldnt happen again until she was a lot older. (i had my remington power 3 head kind of shaver out touching up my legs and she wanted to try it on hers...i know it sounds crazy but when a 6 yr old is bugging you, you'll understand lol).  i know there is more of a chance that she will develop pcos, and i plan to monitor her closely when she gets to puberty and have her be aware of symptoms so she wont have to go thru the late diagnosis frustrations that many of us have.    so all that to say, yes i have a daughter and yes she is hairy but not like our grown up hairy problems. dont worry your baby wont be born with a pcos beard

My little girl is ten, and when she was born, she was just beautiful. Well, she still is, but you know what I mean.  Anyway, there are a few issues that I have noticed with her for having a mom, grandmother, aunts, and great aunts with the same problem - she developed very early, and she shows signs of having future issues with facial hair, etc. On the bright side, though, I wasn't diagnosed until I was in my mid thirties, so I didn't get the help and intervention that I needed when I was younger. With my girl, I believe that we can head off a lot of the problems that I had just by knowing what to expect and what to tell (or demand of) the doctor that treats her. She'll have a much easier time of it than I did, and if your girl turns out to have PCOS, she'll have an easier time than you did.  Don't worry too much - we all get gifts that we are born with. Some are good, some are not, but life is always worth it. :)
