I just want to give all you PCOS cysters my success story so anyone considering surgery can ask questions. Thanks to everyone on the boards who have given me so much support this year. Surgery: June 19, 2006  (duodenal switch) High Weight: 275 Surgery Start Weight: 249 Current Weight: 147 Total Loss  since surgery = 102 lbs I will try and post new pictures soon. Good luck to everyone considering surgery and to all you new post-ops! As far as PCOS goes: I am no longer severely insulin resistant (no more glucophage) I still have the same amount of excess hair and more acne (perhaps from hormones being released from fat loss) I always had regular periods and still do - they are lighter now though. Good luck to all of you!

Thanks Lynn for the info and congrats on all your wonderful success!  You are an inspirtation. Can I ask about pain with your periods?  You said they are lighter now; do they also hurt less?   Thanks for any additional insight. Alison

You're welcome!

You are going to hate me but I never had painful periods to begin with, so I noticed no change with that.

 Good luck Alison!

I wanted the highest chance at keeping my excess weight off. The DS has the best long-term weight loss and weight maintenance. It also has the best chance of curing diabetes.

I suggest you post on the DS forum, I bet you will get lots of great answers.

Feel free to PM me any questions.

Good luck with whichever option you choose!
