HI EVERYONE! I am totally new to this...but I have a question that I think you ladies could answer. First...I haven't been diagnosed with this yet....but upon reading...this seems to fit! While having a MRI for my lower back I was told by my doc that I have a ovarian cycst on my right side (larger) and on my left side (smaller)....sorry I don't have the measurements in front of me. I feel the right side "pinch" just before my period...it will wake me up if I am sleeping. I'm in my mid 40's..no children...no history of ovarian problems with me or family. My surgery was in early Jan 07 and I have lost only 37 pounds to date....I am following the "rules" to the T!    My question is this.... Could these cycsts be slowing down my weight loss?    or does this seem farfetched? Thanks ladies!

Hi,            You don't have to have cysts on your ovaries to have PCOS, but some do. The cysts are not what cause the weight gain, it's the high levels of blood sugar. That's why when the doctors prescribe metformin it causes you to loose weight and have your periods back. =)  it also causes excess facial hair growth and depression. It also causes high cholesterel and high blood pressure.  In order to diagnose this they have to do blood work, testing your hormone levels. Weight loss is the only cure for this, that's why it's on my co morbid list that I qualified on. Dawnyel 298/222/130
