PCOS and WLS
I had RNYGB on March 20th, and the weight came off quick at first but has really slowed. This last week it was only 4lbs which is still good considering it would have been 1-2 lbs before surgery, but it is a little slow for this stage in the game. I hope it picks up, but I am increasing fluids and exercising 6+ days per week to help.
Good luck to you!

Remember that WLS is different for everyone...some are fast loosers (like me) others loose more slowly....but we're all loosers! I had 114 lbs to loose and lost the first 100 in 6 months. Then my weight loss really slowed and it took me another 6 months to loose the remaining 14 lbs. I'm up about 10 lbs from that...and I'm sure it'd go away if I could only stay away from those dang carbs...

My weight loss has been slower than several others...I have lost 56 pounds in just under 5 months. My goal is to lose 125. I am exercising 5 -6 days a week and following the nutrionist's advice about what to eat and when to eat it.
I did find an interesting article about plateaus...which I thought I was on...it is only a plateau if you are not losing inches and it lasts longer than 3 weeks, which is not the case with me.
I lose from 7-10 pounds per month now, slow, but still in the minus and my clothes are getting bigger whcih I notice much more than the weight creeping off. Focus on your measurements and clothes getting bigger..it helps me!
Good Luck,
Karen
just remember you MUST exercise along with the wls diet.
stay away from the Carbs they will derail your journey
i am now 18 months out.. i lost 90 lbs but let the carb monster get in the way.
take it from me, stay away from the carbs.
also PCOS makes it harder to lose weight after the "honeymoon"
we are just sensitive to carbs

I had RNY 9/02 and revision 9/04. I did not have optimal weight loss and I was told it was probably becasue of the PCOS. I did lose weight quickly with the first surgery but after 9 months I started regaining as fast as I had lost, with the second surgery I never lost a pound.
But don't be discouraged because I know others with PCOS who have done well. I think the main thing is the amount of protein you get after surgery. I was not always compliant with the amount of protien I was supposed to get and I was told later that the protien is even more important with PCOS.
Good luck!
