Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has became pregnant, after having WLS, and also have PCOS.  Also, I haven't had a regular cycle in about 9 months, and i was wondering if my cycle would start after surgery.

hi I had Open RNY surgery on Dec 6th, 2006  I did not have a cycle for a long time nearly 3 years. I finally got a cycle a couple days ago and I am now 4 months out. I have heard the sucess of getting pregnant afterwards is alot easier. My doctor personally wants me to wait 12-18 months to get pregnant. As for the pcos i dont know if the cysts are still present but i am sure they are. good luck on the surgery

Thanks for that information.  My docter informed me of the same thing.  So are you getting your sycle without the help of any medicine?  Also, thanks for the luck.

Hi Virgo, If you haven't already, try posting this on the pregnancy after WLS board too.  There are lots of people who have and a lot of them frequent there. Best of luck, Alison

ME!  I got pregnant at 16 months post op RNY.  I have PCOS and went through 8+ years of failed fertility treatments before having surgery.  I went from zero cycles a year to regular 36 day cycles with ovulation at 1 year post op.  We were able to get pregnant our first month trying (after 9 years & 4 months since we started ttc).  In July of last year I gave birth to a healthy little girl 10 years exactly (well give or take a few days) since we first started ttc.  Good luck! Hey there ;) I have pcos and I never really had regular cycles. I had my gastric bypass surgery December 16th 2005..and got pregnant in August of 2006 unexpected. I am now due next month ;) My cycles were just starting to get regular before I got pregnant which tells me I was probably ovulation and my body was trying to work itself out from my weight loss. It happens for alot of us with PCOS ;) I wish you the best! Samantha
