Will WLS help me w/ PCOS and to get PG?

I have PCOS and am getting ready to have WLS in or around June.  My DH and I have been TTC for 3 years and TTC with meds for 8 months.  Does having WLS and losing weight help ladies with PCOS to conceive?  Any ladies out there who have PCOS and couldn't get PG and then had WLS and got PG? Looking for some hope! Thanks, Jessica

Me!  But after the IM's...I think you know my story.  Anyway...I've noticed that a lot of the women on the post op pregnancy board also have PCOS.  Anyway...if you have questions that I didn't answer in my IM...let me know!! Kristy

Hello, I am pre op so I don't know the answer to your WLS question.  But.. I struggled with infertility for 6 years before I conceived.  I got pg after I had ovarian drilling and was on Actos.  Then 17 months later I delivered my 2nd child.

The basics of our bodies is you can't get pregnant without having periods and WLS in A LOT of women cause them to start even while in the hospital. I'm 11 months post op and before I didn't have maybe 5 periods in a 3 year timeframe and I got my period in the hospital and now every month since then. Warning though have some serious pain killers on hand because if you're anything like me after not having periods for so long they come back with avengence and hurt like you wouldn't believe. They are milding out though now. So to answer you, after WLS you shouldn't have many problems getting pregnant.

Thanks ladies for your responses, they give me some comfort about having WLS.  I want to be sure that I am making the best decision for us (DH and I).  I think I am.  I truely think this is the only way for us to get PG and to lessen the symptoms of PCOS.   I wish you all the best!
