How do I know if symptoms are improving
Rachel,
I'm pre-op, but no one else has responded yet. So, let me just ask: What are your symptoms? My symptoms include: Depression/anxiety, infertility, facial hair (although blond and fine, there is a lot of it), hair loss (think of male pattern baldness because your Testosterone level is higher than it should be), acne, obesity, and skin tags. There are several other symptoms I do not have. My periods were regular even when I wasn't on the pill.
I would think your Endo or Infertility Specialist who diagnosed you could do an exam - vaginal ultrasound - to see if your cysts have gone away. (I can't think of a better way to word that...) However, being on the pill, this will actually do the same thing for your ovaries. My Infertility specialist did one at my last yearly appointment and she said I only had a couple of little cysts, which surprised me because I saw the pictures from when I was diagnosed and both ovaries were covered with them! They were also back to the normal size instead of being enlarged. She said that the pill was doing it's job. But talk to him/her anyway, and see if she can answer that question for you. Now that you have lost weight, it may be a good idea to have a full exam completed. I would definitely be interested in finding out what your results are!
My symptoms included no period, obesity, skin tags, dark skin, abnormal hair growth, higher testosterone level than normal, enlarged ovaries with cyst, and the list goes on and on. I had all the symptoms. I decided to have the surgery to see if the dramatic weight loss would help me get pregnant. However, I can't get pregnant just yet because I am not far enough out of surgery. Oh well. Just will have to wait and see!
