How do I fix this?

I was diagnosed with PCOS 3 years pre-op.  I was taken off Metformin a month pre-op and started taking 500mg per day 3 months post-op.  The good news, Since my surgery I have had a period every single month right around the 15th.  This is the first time in my life I have been so consistent for so long.  My problem is that I still have chronic ovarian pain, sometimes it is downright excruciating.  Also, my weight loss is pretty slow.

Is there a different diet I should be following being that I have PCOS?  I am 13 months post-op and have am losing only a pound or two a month since I was 9 months post-op.

I try to stay less than 1300 calories per day and at or over 80grams of protein.

..and is there something I can take other than Tylenol for pain now that I am better than a year post-op? I am miserable.

Thanks!

Janet

Have you tried the Low Glycemic index diet?  It has worked well for me so far and not only are there several books and recipe books for the diet but there is a book especialy for PCOS patients.

People that don't have PCOS often plateau. My nutritionist said that once that happens to us (and it will) we have to change up our program. Eat different foods, exercise more or do a different type of exercise. Having PCOS you may also want to talk to your specialist and see if there is something you can do differently with your medications and they should be able to offer something else for pain. Be careful of ulcers though. I'm sorry you are having problems and hopefully your doing better now. Good luck with everything!   ~Christal/dionysus_star
