Hey. If anyone has advice. I have PCOS and very few periods. I had 2 periods this year without medication ( hadn't happened since I was 13). My last one in May. I know that after surgery you often regulate. Should I induce a period before surgery so afterward my periods aren't so heavy? I'm going to ask my gyne, but didn't know if any one has an idea?? First of all...congrast on your surgery this next month! I'll be here before you know it. I would check with your surgeon as well to see if it's a good idea. For me I didn't, however I did go on birth control right away so that I wouldn't get pregnant too early as fertility greatly increases after surgery and you don't want to risk getting pregnant before 12 months post op. If you opt for the pill, use a back up method as the pill may not be as effective as it is pre op. That is what I did until I reached 199 lbs and then I went on the birth control patch since there is no malabsorbtion issue. I was on that until 12 months post op then I stopped using it and low & behold I got regular cycles...every 36 days and I was even ovulating on my own! Something that I'd never done before. My cycles were so non-existant that I went 3 years without AF befpre taking meds. Anyway long story short I got pregnant our first month not using any protection and now have a beautiful 2 1/2 month old daughter. So I'm not sure if you're looking to have children...but if you are...there is hope! And there is hope that your cycles will get better! Good luck! Kristy DD - Alice Kay 7/31/06
