Weight loss after surgery
I am having RNY. I researched lap band and thought that was what I wanted to have but after talking with my Reproductive Endocrinologist, he recommended RNY hands down. He said that it was the most effective of the 2 by far. He said lap band still allows you to eat and metabolize sugar which is exactly what we don't need as PCOS-ers! I am going with RNY hopefully soon.
I lost quickly the first 6 months or so, after that it's been really slow. I'm 10 1/2 months out now and it is really difficult sometimes to loose. I'm down 117lbs so far and can't wait to be under 200. We do tend to have to work harder than those without PCOS to loose the remainder of the weight once the weight loss slows down due to the difference in metabolism. If you get yourself in the habit of exercising daily and varying the routine each day and stay in that habit, you should do fine. I made the mistake of not exercising daily so I'm not used to it and am having to "retrain" my body and brain.
You'll do fine, just remember to stick with your exercise program and focus on protein.
