So after many blood test and other uncomfy test I have been diagnosed with PCOS and other things I know nothing of. I was given a long lists of why certain things were happening with my body...including things that have been going on with me for the past 7 years. I thought I was just unfortunant to have facial hair and overweight or an abnormal period but now everything is explained. I also was able to have a look at my ultrasound pictures of my enlarge right ovary and hear the doctor go on and on about how I need surgery to remove the polyps from inside. So as I only went to get a referal a for my Lap band surgery and birth control perscription I came out with 8 ultrasounds, four pages of blood work and a disorder I have never heard of. Now Im due for surgery to have the polyps removed on the 21st of June..which cuts into my Lap Band surgery date of the 30th of June.. Everything has changed in my world and suddently I feel horriable. The saddest thing is Ive only one person to talk to about this and she so happens to be out of town...thus here I am... Any advice ....suggestions... I dont even know where to begin.... or how to explain it to my boss tommorrow

I have PCOS too - have lived with it for over 10 years (most of that undiagnosed too). You name it, I got it too: hair all over, missed periods, periods that last for months, weight gain, off the charts testosterone levels, infertility, etc.) I would be glad you are finially diagnosed and they have an aggressive plan for you finally. I've had PCOS for 21 years. I finally diagnosed myself about 9 years ago after reading an article in a magazine. I took the article to my ob/gyn and told her I wanted the tests described in the article. Lo and behold, I'm a textbook case - if there is such a thing. After years of being told all of my problems were due to my weight, I was immensely relieved to finally have a name for it and to begin managing the symptoms. There's lots of info available on the web and I encourage you to read as much as you can about it. My doctors decided it wasn't necessary to remove my polyps since they don't pose any health risk and I haven't had any complications as a result. I would probably seek a second opinion as to whether surgery is necessary and make sure you find a doctor who is very familiar with PCOS.

Hopefully you took the advice to get a second oppinion. Find a doctor who is familiar with this disease and get a second oppinion. If you lose the weight it will change your life and make the PCOS much more managable. Good luck Brigitte
