Topic: Dep official saying voting for Bush = retarded
This is on www.opinionjournal.com which is Wall Street Journal's editorial page under best of the web. You need to go see the poster itself. If He Were Republican, This Would Be Hate Speech A Tennessee state House member is distributing a flyer with the slogan "Voting for Bush is like running in the Special Olympics: Even if you win, you're still retarded," reports the Traditional Values Coalition. Republican challenger Dave Dahl says opponent, Democratic incumbent Chris Fitzhugh, has been passing out the flyers for two weeks from the Fitzhugh campaign office in Ripley, which also serves as the local headquarters for the Kedwards campaign, according to the coalition. "At first, I really did not believe that Fitzhugh and the Democrats would stoop to such gutter politics, but then people started bringing the flyer to me at the end of last week," Dahl says. "I was shocked and disgusted." Click on the image nearby to see a larger version. As the sister of a mentally disabled person I find this EXTREMELY offensive. I have fought for my brother my whole life against this kind of bigotry. The president is fair game, thats politics. But to make fun of 'retarded' people??????? And this isn't even making fun soley of Pres Bu****s saying that VOTING for Bush is the same as being retarded!!!!! I guess that tolerance and inclusivesness democrats preach only extends to those who think as they do. In the interests of fairness and full disclosure I spoke with Rep Fitzhugh's office and he was on the news. He disavows the flyer. He doesn't deny it came from his office - he claims its all a set up from his Republican opponent. So the flyer came from his office (which is the local Kerry-Edwards office) but its a Republican set up? That takes nerve! Or could it be that he's nervous becasue of all the uproar this has caused? His office told me they had received calls from all over the country. I don't know how long this will be on opinionjournal.com. Its has been on since yesterday. Its also on www.traditionalvalues.org web site if you want to check it out for yourself.

Check all of your facts. Bush was handed the beginning of a recession which happened on Clintons watch.

I had the same arguement with my stepdad-morals seem not to matter one iota to him-so in his eyes-Clinton was a saint! I am a born again Christian which means I am voting for the guy who is humble enough to get down on his knee's and aknowledge that there is SOMEONE who is bigger than him-yes I am for BUSH and PROUD OF IT!

I agree. I thought the veep debate last night was more interesting, at least the first part. The second part was boring. But its the pres debates that matter anyway. It will be interested to see what happens Friday!

Muy interesante. I think Bush underperformed and Kerry was at his peak. Lets see what happens in round 2.

What a sad commentary on our society when money matters more than morals. No matter what you think of Pres Bush there is no defense of Clintons behavior.

Clinton did better while being serviced by an intern than Bush has. At least he left office with a surplus and the lowest unemployment rate in years. With Bush, we now have record deficits and still a net job loss. Quick, someone service him. Maybe he'll do a better job.

The Democrats are doing themselves in. They are so desperate they are becoming pathetic. As Arnold said they are girlie men.
