Topic: RE: Bush Won't Pull Troops in Iraq
Your post is so offensive to me. I AM A MILITARY DEPENDENT AND I OPPOSE THIS WAR. Am I a whiner? Do I not 'support the troops?'
I do not sit safe and sound in my living room and "whine" about politics. I spend time at my local food bank helping people here at home; that is national security too. I spend time at Walter Reed hospital with injured troops from Iraq. I spend time organizing money and goods to send over in mass scale to troops in Iraq. They don't have enough SOAP for Christ's sake! You should see the packages we compile, it's insane the stuff they need. That doesn't even begin to address their lack of armor and other (what I'd consider) war necessities. My aunt actually spent $2,000 on body armor for my cousin because they ran out and he gave his up for a guy who had kids. My husband, my cousin, my brother, my father, my uncles my friends put "their butts on the line" as you put it. All of those people I list have always, or do now, oppose this war.
"To say you are against the war but support our troops is an oxymoron."
This statement especially ****** me off. Seriously, it really makes me mad for you to just blow stuff like this out like it's nothing. Who do you think you are to make such assumptions about me and call me a "whiner?" Try the smallest effort to understand what we are saying, because you obviously don't. Your responses clearly indicate this is not a case of you simply disagreeing; you don't understand what we are saying. You, and one other who stands out in this thread, are too busy name calling and being righteous to open your heart and mind to what others are saying. I don't care if you don't agree with me. I do care about you calling me names and insinuating I'm lazy, ungrateful, unaware, and/or stupid.

Oh please let's not forget Tibet and Darfur!!! The list is HUGE on countries that had it worse off than Iraq... 'till we came in and actually made it worse for them than when Saddam was in power, as bad as he was... at least they had basic living necessities. They're still being raped and murdered, but now it's by fundamentalist Islamic groups AND fundamentalist Christians.

I think those who oppose the war are quick to forget how nice they have it here. While they sit safe and sound in their living rooms whining about politics somebody out there is putting thier butt on the line for them. To say you are against the war but support our troops is an oxymoron. Reminds me of that cliche "With friends like that....who needs enemies?"
I also find it so ironic that war whiners are civilians.

Ooops, I forgot to post the author of the article:
Michael Mason.
He is on staff at the Neurologic Rehabilitation Institute at Brookhaven Hosptial in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he is a brain-injury case manager for the patients all over the United States. He recently finished a book "Damaged: The Injured Brain" for publication in early 2008.
The name of the publication in which the above article appears on page 54, is DISCOVER, Science, Technology, and The Future.. it is not on their web site (yet), but is available on newstands everywhere. I only posted excerpts because I do not have permission to reprint the entire article.

Miss D,
If a member does request for another member to not post to them then yes we ask that other members are considerate in not replying further to that member. They have the right to ask them to not contact them. What I would suggest is not replying to that person further as they requested or it can be considered harrassing.

Wow. It's a tough call. Obviously a female president would be great....but NOT Clinton. I like Obama. I don't give a crap about his name or his skin color. I love his ideals and his views. But his inexperiance is a major factor here. The thought of Kerry or Edwards give me the willies. Too much experiance as professional politicians. Mitt Romney is a possiblility. Except he's ticked off Mormons all over(especially here in Utah). Which is ironic considering him being Mormon himself might be enough of an hinderance. I'm sure New York would LOVE to see Rudy in office. But he is just wanting to cash in on is 15 minutes of 9/11 fame.
Too bad Oprah isn't running.

"he's a real Republican, instead of a religious whack job."
I like Bush for the most part, but I have to laugh. I thought I was the only one who called him that.
Thanks for the giggle.
