I thought you'd like this if you haven't ever heard it. It's a great song and sums up a lot of what I believe is wrong with America these days: LOU REED - LAST GREAT AMERICAN WHALE They say he didn't have an enemy His was a greatness to behold He was the last surviving progeny The last one on this side of the world He measured half a mile from tip to tail Silver and black with powerful fins They say he could split a mountain in two That's how we got the Grand Canyon Some say they saw him at the Great Lakes Some say they saw him off the coast of Florida My mother said she saw him in Chinatown But you can't always trust your mother Off the Carolinas the sun shines brightly in the day The lighthouse glows ghostly there at night The chief of a local tribe had killed a racist mayor's son And he'd been on death row since 1958 The mayor's kid was a rowdy pig Spit on Indians and lots worse The old chief buried a hatchet in his head Life compared to death for him seemed worse The tribal brothers gathered in the lighthouse to sing And tried to conjure up a storm or rain The harbor parted and the great whale sprang full up And caused a huge tidal wave The wave crushed the jail and freed the chief The tribe let out a roar The whites were drowned The browns and reds set free But sadly one thing more Some local yokel member of the NRA Kept a bazooka in his living room And thinking he had the chief in his sights Blew the whale's brains out with a lead harpoon Well Americans don't care for much of anything Land and water the least And animal life is low on the totem pole With human life not worth more than infected yeast Americans don't care too much for beauty They'll **** in a river, dump battery acid in a stream They'll watch dead rats wash up on the beach And complain if they can't swim They say things are done for the majority Don't believe half of what you see And none of what you hear It's a lot like what my painter friend Donald said to me "Stick a fork in their ass and turn them over, they're done"

Kelly, Thank you for this. It's absolutely true that if we can "**** in a river and dump battery acid in a stream" that we don't care even about our earth. And this election is proof-positive that Americans don't care much about America.

How dare you claim that people that voted opposite of you dont care about this country. This is your justification as to why your man lost the election.I asked you to convince me as to why I should have voted different and what Kerry 's record was and I am still waiting for an answer. So was the rest of the country. Go move to a Blue state if you can find one.

Here's some reading for you! Apparently Kerry lost because Bush supporters are clueless. http://www.pipa.org/OnlineReports/Pres_Election_04/html/new_10_21_04.html Enjoy!

No, what you want is for someone to research everything for you and give you quick answers. If you were to take your blinders off and look around, you'd realize that there is truth to be found somewhere else than Bush "rhetoric". Bush poses with a redwood tree once a term and that's his environmental policy. No I don't believe that everyone who voted for Bush hates this country....but if you're looking for a solid environmental policy Bush is not your man. And guess what, without protecting the environment, eventually there won't be a United States of America. And no, I don't think I'll move to a blue state...I kind of like living in the south and fighting for MY country in the trenches. Why don't YOU go somewhere else....like to another post that has your name on it....you're just another person who never stops to think for themselves and swallows everything their "leader" tells them. I don't have time for people like you....be gone before someone drops a house on your sister.

Kelle, You might want to do yourself and all of us a favor and think about some of the things you are saying. For example.. "..And guess what, without protecting the environment, eventually there won't be a United States of America.".. You are right, that without protecting the environment eventually we won't be here, but yet you voted for a "man" who wanted to cut our military to shreds, he has voted many many times to cut our military in HALF, voted to get rid of just about every single military and defense weapon this country owns?? Now I certainly don't think it would be a very prudent thing, in these days where there are terrorists throughout the world who hate our guts and are just waiting to attack us. Yes, the environment is important.. but even more so is our ability to defend ourselves. I still don't understand how your buddy could have the audacity to vote to cut our military every chance he got, and then criticize our president because "there's not enough troops in Iraq". That just shows what a two-faced hypocrit Kerry is. Speaking of which, your.. "you're just another person who never stops to think for themselves and swallows everything their leader tells them" line made me laugh. Kerry is the master of pandering, he told one group this and another group that.. he always knew to tell his current audience what THEY wanted to hear. He had so many different stances on Iraq, depending on the day of the week, and how the polls were looking. There are so many other issues Kerry has flip-flopped on or worded carefully to appeal to both sides, such as religion, Iraq, gay marriage, etc.. I think it's so ironic you would say something like that when Kerry was the master of flip-flops.. and regarding your "I don't believe that everyone who voted for Bush hates this country" line.. well that's true. I'm very proud to say I voted for Bush and I'm very, very proud to say that I am an American, which I guess those of you democrats who are about ready to run away to Canada in protest because your buddy didn't win, I guess you're not proud Americans, otherwise you wouldn't be saying such disgraceful things about our country. I'm also proud and thankful for our troops who fought in all the wars this great country has faced, so that we could continue to live in this beautiful land of liberty and freedom. -Mike

You're right, I'm not a proud American. I'm disgraced by the state we've allowed this country to get to. A country that started off as a great endeavor and has become a nation of mindless automatons who follow and hang on every word their "leader" says as he makes horrific decisions over and over again. And by the way, that thread had absolutely nothing to do with defense. It had to do with the environment. But Bush supporters can't talk about anything else. No environmental policy? We've got loads of weapsons! Bush's inability to create jobs in America and keep the ones we have from being shipped overseas? Wow, look at all our bombs! I'll tell you what, I feel more at risk and ill at ease with Bush in office than I would were he not. He creates enemies out of people (and I do mean common people, not just governments) that were not our enemies before. My distaste of Bush has absolutely nothing to do with whether Kerry won or lost....and isn't it a big assumption on your part to assume that I voted for Kerry....cause I didn't....he's not my fav guy either, but he's a damn sight better than Bush. There were other options on the ballet this year...maybe you should quite spouting the pro-Bush rhetoric for a minute and think about what's TRULY best for your country, not just today, but in the long run.

First of all, Kelle.. I didn't know it was the presidents job to create jobs. I always thought it was up to businesses to create jobs. Maybe you want the government to do everything for you?? You see, in the capitalist country we live in it is up to private businesses, encouraged by a free economy and competition, to create jobs. If you expect the government to do it for you then maybe you WOULD be happier in Canada and their Socialist government. And second of all, the point I was trying to make is that you're making such a big deal about the environment, yet obviously (based on your past posts) don't mind the idea of cutting our military way down and getting rid of all our weapons. In a perfect world, that would be nice to get rid of our defenses and live in peace and harmony and sing songs around the campfire with the rest of the world. Unfortunatly, that ain't the way it really is. There are people that HATE America, and they've hated us long before Bush ever came around. Why do they hate us?? Simple.. we have something most other countries don't.. Freedom! Now if we were to get rid of the military and all of our weapons, these people who hate us would have an open door to wipe out this country and all of its people. Do you really think that the environment is MORE important than the ability to defend ourselves?? What environment would be left if the terrorists were able to come wipe us out?? None.. we'd be gone.. So, see it really doesn't make much sense to be so concerned about the environment, but then turn your back on our military. I'm sorry you don't like America... Maybe you should move to Cuba or something.. I bet maybe then, you'd stop taking this beautiful country for granted and realize how great you had it here. -Mike
