Hopefully a local surgeon or your pcp will drain it for you. It usually doesn't hurt, they stick a small needle with a large syringe attached and draw out the fluid. You may have to get it done once or twice a wee****il the fluid stops accumulating.

Yes I have a huge problem with jewelry. Most contain nickle, which will literally make my ears feel as if they are going to rot off! So no costume jewelry, no silver, and no low grade gold.
My husband can buy reasonable 22-24k gold from the Middle East, and I wear only high grade gold.
Of course, one evening with silver won't hurt, but if I forget anf keep any on like 12 hours or more, my skin gets red and breaks open, ears, neck, or wrist. Fingers take a lot longer to react, but why chance it?
I assume you also have this issue?
Now for the scarey part.....I have hundreds of titanium clips and staples due to various surgeries, including a RNY style stomach resection, with the remnant remaining in my gut. And a DS style common channel. The TT and hernia repair utilized titaium clips and staples as well.
I cannot imagine all of those coming to the surface after these almost 7 years??????

ETA: thanks for your reply! It's the only one I got, maybe it's very uncommon?

I have had an interesting experience.
I had a TT and hernia repair over 4 years ago. For the past year or so, I've had a small lump fairly deep under the skin to the left of my navel ( if I still had one).
This was explained as " scar tissue" by 2-3 pcp.
IN the past couple weeks, the skin over the area became reddened, and I went to a surgeon, asking if I had a hernia. After a CT, I was told it seemed to be fluid-filled pocket, maybe a cyst.
I had a needle aspiration showing what appeared to be pus. So, in office, the pocket was opened and drained, swabbed and packed.
After the second day, during a recheck on it, what appeared to be a surgical clip appeared on the q-tip swabs during the cleaning.
Very tiny, and very supprising. Anyone ever had a clip or staple migrate to the surface???
I have " spit" every kind of suture ever used during surgery, including those considered least reactive, and those meant to be permanent, and the ones meant to disolve after a few weeks.
But the surgeon says this is a titanium clip. All I can say is HHHHHHMMMMMM??????
Anyone else ever had anything like this?

Replying to my own post. I had a second titanium clip surface in the same place, and still cleaning and packing, in order to heal from the inside out.
Apparently these titanium clips are used to clip off bleeders during surgery as a faster method than suturing.
Seems my body dislikes titatium as much as other suture materials.

Moving around sometimes causes MORE swelling in an area where you've had PS, like a TT. You will have had muscle and skin pulled apart and then put back together to heal. So not putting too much strain on the area may be better.
I had a seroma and open wound for a long time, partly due to lack of blood flow and a sensitivity to sutures. The wound was due to lack of blood flow, not the seroma. That was probably due to the TT!!
I had my TT revised to remove some dead tissue, and to resew the incision line to try and heal. Eventually I did.
I think many times a seroma is just the luck.

Topic: RE: I definitely have buyers remorse with TT
I had mine at 52, and had dead skin. Formerly fat people have necrotic tissue after a TT due to poor circulation in the area. And yes it wil get well. Mine took a long long time, but I went into my TT and hernia repair with an open wound from a hernia repair at the time of my RNY 2 years before.
It is a long story, but with good care and a PS who doesn't give up, and willingness on your part to see this through, you will get well.
Daed tissue usually falls away after a while, or needs to be removed, and the open wound will get well if the tissue is fresh and pink after debriding9 dead skin removal).
Several people have gone through this, and most of us don't have horrible scars.

Topic: RE: Plastic Surgery out of reach
I saved from the day I had my weight loss surgery for an extended TT, hernia repair and breast implants. It cost me $8,000. I am now saving for a facelift, and to hell with the legs and arms!
If you want PS, search around for the best surgeon at the best price, and also ask for a discount for cash. Tell your surgeon of choice how much you can pay, I did! He agreed and even did a mons lift without aditional money.
Now start saving, put all your pennies and whatever you can scrape up aside and do not spend it for anything! No car repairs, no new shoes, no power bill. The money doesn't exist for anything but repair of your body, eventually you will reach your goal.
No pain, no gain.

Topic: RE: What actually CAUSES incision breakdown and necrosis?
It is usually as simple as poor blood flow to the area.
A surgeon can tell if you have issues before surgery, because almost ALL morbidly obese people have thin skin and less blood flow in the area after weight loss.  But nobody can tell if you will have skin necrosis.
I had an area of skin die after a TT. It eventually healed by being cut away as it died, and the living skin being re-sewn.  One of my problems was an old scar from having my gall bladder removed years ago. Previous surgeries can compromise blood flow when the skin is cut, and pulled tight during a TT.  Another problem was my protein was low during healing, but this isn't usually a real problem unless one has WLS and doesn't address extra protein needs after PS.
Skin and tissue necrosis is  a risk mentioned by every surgeon who does PS.

Topic: RE: Please advise - TT and BA in Alabama
Please think of Ross Bunch in Tuscaloosa. He has experience with bariatric patients and has some patient reviews on Obesity Help.
He has a very professional manner, and his costs are very reasonable, and the outpatient costs here are very low with good care.

You won't know your outcome for months, maybe up to a year. I went down several sizes, and ended up much flatter and smaller than I ever dreamed. My final shape showed up around 9-10 months out.

Topic: RE: Did you need help?
I needed help after a TT with hernia repiar, and BA.
My mother stayed with me and fixed meals, otherwise I would never have eaten. I was in a lot of pain for about a week. I lost weight afterwards anyway, but would have lost too much at a time when I needed protein for healing.
Biking kids to school won't be possible for a while. Making your own simple meals and snacks will be do-able if neccessary. Getting yourself up is better than other people getting you up, but you may get dizzy sometimes.

Topic: RE: What's it like with no belly button?
I have no belly button. It's really strange, because it's not noticable right away. Like you expect one to be there, so you don't see that it isn't.
I may one day get a tattoo, or maybe not. It's not as important to me as I thought it was when I first lost it.
Edited to add: with a hernia repair, previous obesity and a TT, sometimes the blood supply is compromised. This is the main reason for loss of your belly button. Difficulty or money usually isn't the problem for your surgeon. Any decent PS would much rather have a great looking natural belly button fi possible, than rush through and leave you without one.
If the blood supply is bad, the tissue will die, and you can end up with necrotic skin having to be cut away, usually leaving an open wound, that  takes forever to heal.
I am sure if possible, your PS will save your belly button. If not, it will be ok. Having a flatter stomach, and no hernia will be GREAT!

I would get a consult with Ross Bunch in Tuscaloosa, Alabama before deciding. His prices are very reasonable, and you can probably make an offer and get it lower. I did.
I had an excellent outcome, and would recommend him to anyone.

Topic: RE: Update from October 2007
I had a TT with mons lift and BA in Oct 2007. Before that< I had an open wound from the RNY in Aug 2005.
I ended up with necrotic tissue with the TT and an open wound that has finally healed just after my 1 year mark.  My body rejects all types and kinds of sutures except for metal ones. I had sutures open a wound on different areas after months of being healed. So at any given time, I had an open wound from Aug 2005 until Oct. 2008!
So here's my update: I am completely healed, my tummy is flat and I wear 2 smaller sizes since the TT. I started at size 14 and now wear size 10.
The swelling from standing, and walking while working stopped around the 10-11 month mark.
I was able to swim on my 10 day cruise my Mother and I took on December 8th this month. I almost cried about it, I haven't been able to swim in the ocean or pool, or be in a hot tub for years.
Thanks to everyone who wrote asking how I was doing and thanks for all the prayers though the years.

It took almost a year to see my final result. For many it takes only a few months. Don't expect what you see now to be what you will see later on.
You will most likely be much flatter than now. And after being up and around all day, you'll probably swell for a long time to come. Most likely months. It's been called swell hell for a reason!
I'm a year and 2 months out, and have been my final shape for only about 4 months or so. And I am flatter than I have ever been in my life.
So take a deep breath, and look at your before pics from when you were fat. It will help put things in perspective.

Topic: RE: Seroma after TT
For me and most other people, it ends up needed drained with a syringe. The skin can't stick together when a pool of fluid is keeping the skin from touching the tissue underneath.
Go in and ask to be drained.

Well, it's still with me. No change, hoping for a healing. It just seems imsane after a year. I really do not want to have it opened and debrided.

Very reasonable. And ask for a bit of a discount on top of that! If you ask, say you only have $9,000 saved for the proceedure, many PS will agree to the lower price.
I paid a little over $8,000 for an extended TT with muscle repair, a hernia repair, and breast implants.

I won't even come close to a pool or ocean. WHAAAAAAAAAAA!
But I have noticed there is sensatoin in the area and a little pain when I touch it. The nerves are back, maybe blood flow is too.
It seems the hole is smaller today, less than the size of a match head. I accept prayers, chicken swinging, voodoo ceremonies, and blessings with holy water.
Thanks guys!
