Topic: RE: Life, Liberty and being pursued by giant Yo Yo's

If you check my profile you will see I have been a member of this group for a decade or more. My weight yoyo'ed. Life happened. Before I knew it my weight had gone back to 407 LBS. I was 587 at my worst and 216 at my best. Since April 2023 to today June 24 I have clawed my way back to 272. My doctor has set a new compromise weight goal of 240 or less pounds. I am 6'3" and now in poor health. I look at my poor worn-out abused body and despite getting a little help every now and then I still have many folds of excess skin. The bariatric doctor I had in 2013 is currently in prison but that is off topic. My current doctor does not do any kind of skin removal. I am not the least bit concerned about having a scar line. Dr. Nowzardian in Houston (4 hour drive at least) is still taking patients despite his advanced age. Thing is my health insurance will cover bariatric surgery but not any kind of skin removal. I checked on healthcare.gov to see if there was any kind of supplemental insurance I could purchase and came up empty-handed. At this point I am thinking about calling Dr. Nowzardian again and seeing if anyone in their insurance department can give me any guidance. If anyone is aware of a surgeon in the Dallas area that does non cosmetic surgery for excess skin like Dr. Now in Houston let me know. If you have any guidance on how to deal with the insurance let me know. If you have a success story to motivate and encourage me never to yoyo again contact me. My body will NOT survive another yoyo.

I just got a torso-plactcy on 12/30/13. I am still hurting from that. I had a panilectomy in the distant past and that was nothing compared to this. I am one of the few men on earth who understand some of what women go through with a mastectomy  since basically that is what they did to me. Least I am not a man who needs to wear a size d bra any more.

On 12/30/13 I had a torso-platcy to remove my size DD Male breast. Went in for checkup today and they confirmed I AM alergic to the adheasive they used on the bandages and steri strips they used on me. My wife says I look like Frankenstien's monster. They went all the way around and pulled  a 15 lbs loop of skin off of me. My whole upper body feels like I am sunburned. They did allow me to take a shower today even though I still have two JP Drains. I was very careful to get it all dry. Still can't get all the darn glue off me. Everywhere the glue is on me, it's like I was scalded there. Hope you feel better soon and hope I do too.

Dr, Wade brker suggested I use Carlos Raul Barcelo from Body Contour at the same hospital. I am sure they are pals. But what the hey, Dr. Barker took good care of me thus far so I trust his advice.

Does anyone else have issues getting to the plastic surgery messages? The only way I get here is to manually add a,messageboard/ to the Plastic surgery url?

To my total surprise I was approved on first try for some plastic work. I am waiting to hear from the doctor what the copay will be.

First I got an email from the surgeons office and then an actual letter from my insurance company.

OK just so it's clear to anyone else. Some how this posted under my wife's account on Obesity help. Same question but dispite the "appearace" that my wife made this question, it was actualy me that posted it.

Are you confused? Just understand it should have said NG5Y posted the question (ME) not Melanie my wife...

Computers, got to love them.

Topic: RE: Budget Skin removal advice for DFW area?

I am over a year out, down 230 lbs and would like to see if I can find a surgeon or plastic surgeon willing to remove excess skin. I am NOT at all concerned with a plastic surgery type almost invisible scar, train tracks would be fine with me. I want the skin off for mobility issues, not for cosmetic ones.

I would never win any beauty contest anyway. If I stay stateside, would be looking for someone preferably in DFW area, may consider Houston.

I might consider out of the country as I hear it's much more affordable.

Any advise?

Regards

Allen
