Hi Nancy.
I'm having a pannus op with Dr Elahi through OHIP next week and I'm a bit nervous, I'm glad to hear all went well with you.
Regards
Christine.

No two ways about it, this sounds like a really tough surgery to recover from and it takes so long to feel like yourself again unlike WLS. I felt a lot of buyer's remorse after my sleeve for about 6 weeks (lots of why the hell did I do this?!) and I've been thrilled I did it ever since. Maybe this is similar or even longer?
I really appreciate you sharing all of your experiences though as I'm trying to set my expectations and mentally prepare for what's ahead!
That's funny (and not!) about the Kardashian comment. I'm having some fat transferred back there and specifically said I do not want to look like one of them!! I just don't want my rear on the same plane as my thighs and my back...
In my case it's the things I've already had fixed that I feel like I could have somehow had a better result. Like - "Maybe I should have opted for implants" and "If I had, had a Fleur De Lis would I have had tighter results in my stomach".
I actually haven't nitpicked at my arms/legs too much. Although, I realize that my laxity in my arms is worse because I haven't been able to work out much for many weeks. I've found that getting back into exercise has helped immensely in being happy with myself again.

My plastic surgeon called it something like the remodeled house in the neighborhood effect (that?s not it, but close enough). He said that a neighborhood of houses looks fine until one house remodels and adds on. Then the houses next door start to look rundown when they didn?t before and those people want to work on their houses too. So you fix your stomach and then your flanks don't looks as good in comparison. Or your boobs, arms, etc. I can see how easy it would be to get carried away with wanting to fix tiny imperfections!
Seems like sound advice, Thank You! I know this is a marathon, and not a race. But boy am I looking forward to that finish line, lol. I already feel so much better, and my whole attitude has improved.

I have an appointment with Dr. Michaels at the end of May. I look forward to hearing what he has to say.

Hi Janet - that is so exciting! I did a LBL and breast lift at one time, and then decided to go do my arms once the rest of my body looked good ha ha. I didn't have any pain along my incisions from my LBL or my breasts - it was the muscle tightening in my abdomen that was absurdly painful! I knew I would forget tons of stuff so I made a document and you can find it here.
You may know that a few of us on here (me, Erin, Cynthia) are super fans of Dr. Joseph Michaels in North Bethesda. His speciality is plastic surgery and body contouring after massive weight loss. He's beyond incredible. Perhaps look into a consult with him. I am still ecstatic with my results years later :) Here are my before and after from my plastics posts.
Two years post LBL:

Congrats on your loss so far - that's great!
My opinion and the advice I was given was it's important to be at a stable weight for min 3 months but I'd say 6 months. Getting as close to goal is important but it's hard to determine if the goal is reasonable or attainable so I prefer just focusing on stability. Also, make sure you are still following your plan when you stabilize to ensure maximum loss.
For me personally I wanted to get to goal first but despite my best efforts I couldn't get there but was about 15lbs away from it. I had LBL 3.5 weeks ago with 9lbs removed and due to following high protein diet post op I'm now at goal and have a new goal lol. I'm almost 2 years post op RNY. I went for my first consult just after my 1 year follow up.
Good luck!

OK- First time post, but am really encouraged reading all of these. I'm only 5 months post bypass, and am down a total of about 100 lbs. At what weight should I seek out a consult? Some have said 15-25 lbs from my goal weight, and others have said not until my goal weight is reached. Looking to see what/when others did, so weigh in(pun intended) with advice!?
