Breasts and arms will be the second surgery in the fall sometime... this one is 12 hours on it's own and that's his limit.
Did he prescribe you anything other than the scopolamine patches for nausea? I got Zofran and it was absolutely required beyond my time in the hospital. Especially when you're also on Narcotics that can cause additional nausea.

Sounds like alot of surgery to do at once, but it will be nice to not have to go through it again! Good luck!

Glad that you got through the appointment without hand cramps! I feel your pain with driving in heavy traffic to and from appointments. I live in DC and depending on how long my afternoon appointments last it can take hours to get home.
I can't remember, are you having your breasts done this surgery? I will be closely following your progress since my surgery is the 18th.

Today is 12 days until surgery and I had my pre-op appointment. It's coming up fast now! It consisted of going through the 30+ pages of consent forms I signed and initialed with the doctor to discuss all the awful things that could happen, but probably won't if I'm lucky. We discussed the order of my procedures: 1) starting out on my back he'll do all my lipo - chin, sides, inner thighs, knees, belly - to harvest for my rear, 2) thigh lift, 3) front of body lift, 4) roll me onto my front to complete back of body lift and fat transfer to rear. He clarified I will be laying in a foam hole (long piece of foam with a hole cut out in the shape of my butt) for at least 2 weeks to allow the fat transfer time and room to "take". Good times.
He did say that WLS patients have a 20% greater chance of complications versus non-WLS patients, with VSG patients fairing the best followed by RNY then DS. He pointed at impaired nutrient and micro-nutrient absorption as the probable reason.
After I asked a bunch more questions, he wrote out a ton of prescriptions (Percocet, Valium, Lovenox shots, Demerol shots for at the recovery center, scopolamine patches for nausea, omeprazole to prevent ulcers, antibiotics, colace). Then they measured me for the compression garment. I was given a Medium and a Large and they said they'd work out which is best after surgery. The gal that picked the garment for me asked me to lift up my dress to see my shape (I'm getting less self-conscious about showing my flab now that it's headed for the medical waste trash heap). She said, wow you're going to have a great outcome. That made me feel good considering she's likely seen a lot of flab! I totally don't care if she was just humoring me.
Then I was off to fill the prescriptions at the pharmacy in his building as they are used to his prescriptions and carry everything where other pharmacies might not. Anyway $560 later... (and the pharmacist thought my co-pays were really reasonable. He said he'd seen a lot worse. Small favors I guess)
So at 3:50 I began the drive home. Ugh 3 hours and 58 miles later, I rolled into my driveway. LA traffic is the pits. I really don't look forward to doing that frequently over the next month.
Hey guys! Long time, no see. I don't pop on nearly as much as I should. It's nice to be back :)
Anyway, last time I was on I was asking for recommendations for surgeon's in the NYC area, which gave me the name of Dr. Capella in Ramsey, NJ. Best suggestion I could have ever received!
I went in for a consultation last week, and was completely blown away. I had previously gone in for a consultation in January with Dr. Sterry on the UES of Manhattan, who wanted me to do a LBL followed by UBL, quoting 25k per each. HOLY STICKER SHOCK BATMAN!
Dr. Capella, on the other hand, plans to do my entire body (360 body lift with mastoplexy, brachioplasty and flankplasty) all in one go!!! He expects this to take 6 hours, and quoted me just short of 22k.
I literally was so thrilled with him that I have thought of nothing but getting this done, and put down my deposit today for surgery on July 11th. :D :D :D
Celebration aside, I can't help but wonder (and far be it from me to question a doctor of his level of expertise and experience) but is this realistic? How is it possible for him to accomplish so much more in a shorter period of time?
I need to speak to him again to see if any of my procedure will include liposuction and if there is a possibility for fat transfer/auto butt augmentation... in my pure giddiness in his office I seem to have lost track of a few things. Oy.
Anyway, happy me, but also confused me lol. Any thoughts??

Stay tuned!
I haven't seen any blue ones yet, but I bet that is what is trying to poke through the breast. The skin is tented and white (from the pressure). on top of the spots it is poking me.
i was wondering what that cloth looking stuff in the belly button was.
Almost all my fishing line from around th nipple is gone. Have had one groin pop, which was awesome, but nothing in the torso yet, so looking forward to that.

Yup - I've popped/snapped a few internal stitches. The first one happened when I sneezed and felt a pop on my side. It freaked me out but I noticed that night that the pulling sensation I had in that spot when I was on side wasn't there anymore! Also, I had one snap above my right butt cheek when I bent over and now the stitch is trying to come out through the scar line. It's burning a bit and I can feel it under the skin but hasn't broken through.
There's another one my side that I can feel pull and I actually hope it snaps soon lol.
I also have been pulling my own stitches as per the direction of my PS. I've pulled clear plastic type ones (almost like fishing line) but those break easily and are mostly around my belly button. I also pulled 2 white cloth like stitches from around my belly button and then there are the super thick blue/purple ones that are all the way around my LBL scar line.
Good luck with your healing and hopefully everything drops soon lol.
Summer is going to be great :)
My PS says I'm a "stitch spitter" but says its not a bad thing. My body doesn't need the stitches anymore so now my body is trying to get rid of them he says. Ill post some pics of my stitches on my profile so I don't gross out people who don't want to see it but feel free to check it out :)
Edited to add: if you look at my pics you will see one that looks awful. I was so upset and nervous that it was necrosis. The PS said it's not infected and not necrotic at all but its a reaction to the stitch knot and slow healing. He's treating it with silver and it's almost closed now.
