Topic: RE: Referall for Great yet reasonably priced Florida plastic surgeon

Congrats on your loss!

I am having PS with Dr. Douglas Forman who is in North Bethesda-Rockville, MD and does surgery out of Sibley Hospital in NW DC. He is well reviewed on OH and RealSelf and after several consults, I am very happy with him.

Dr. Joseph Michaels, who also works out of Sibley, is well liked on this site and does alot of body contouring with WLS patients.

I suggest looking here on OH and on RealSelf.com then make appointments to talk to a number of PS.

As for cost, going to an experienced PS who has done body contouring with patients who have lost massive amounts of weight will definitely cost more than going to a generalist. Shop around and remember that it just might cost more than you plan to get the results that you want.

Topic: RE: Here?s a weird question... underwear

I did not wear underwear until after my drains came out and then I wore them over my garment, not under.

Topic: RE: How did you choose a surgeon?

I am new and very curious as I almost had a heart attack after my first PS consult. Just the TT and lower abdomin up through and including chest without arms and legs was quoted at $37k. I have family in a Frederick MD but live on east coast of central FL? Love some help. Lost 138# total 130 last year.

thanks!

Hi all,

I have now lost 138# on the Nutrimost diet (full disclosure) I have hanging skin everywhere and need to have surgery I am looking for a referral to basically cut all the extra skin off and lifts.

I would like to do this without spending $70k+ I am on the central east cost of Florida, any referrals? I also have family in Frederick, MD if I need to go there.

Thanks!!

Where does underwear fit in this whole lbl/thigh lift scenario or does it? So you have a garment on and drains. Are you commando? Until when? What about when you no longer have drains but are still in the garment? Do you wear them underneath? Just wondering if I need to bring any with me at the surgery recovery center the first 5 days...

Thank you Laura! You look wonderful - I'd be over the moon with a similar result. I will absolutely choose a surgeon specializing in bariatric patients. I look at this as reconstructive rather than vanity surgery, and definitely want the best result possible.

For the best results you should look for plastic surgeons who have experience working with bariatric patients. It may cost more, but if you want the best results you may have to pay more. I wanted to look good (not just better) so I went with one of the best, Dr. LoMonaco.

I used to be 200 pounds heavier and had my lower body lift when I was in my mid-40's (I am 51 now). My stomach looks as good now as it did when I was in my 30's. HERE was an old post of mine showing my results (this was 2 months post-op so I was still swollen here).

Do your research. Best of luck!!

I agree. In my early 20s I weighed in the 120's, later I gained beyond that, but held steady for a long while at 137-142 or so. Below 130, I too had xylophone ribs. I feel I look pretty thin at 150, but I honestly don't want to be heavier. My first somewhat tentative goal is 150, but I see the wisdom of dropping lower to give myself some latitude to adjust as I transition into maintenance, and as a protection against any year 2-3 regain. It seems better to drop a bit below if possible, then to stop at 150 and from there battle against any regain. But I will see what my body fat % is when I get there! Thanks for your response.

Like Cecily said, do what feels right for you but I'm guessing that at age 64 you will find 130 pretty slim for 5'8" tall. I'm 5'7" and 125-130lbs and I have very low body fat (lower than would be considered healthy for someone older than myself). You can see my ribs in my back and that kind of thing. I'm healthy and I'm not worried about it because at some point I'm guessing I'll have some lax times in my diet and I'll have wiggle room, but I didn't need to lose to this point!
