I read this with interest, and thought some of you might be interested, too. This injection therapy is in the end stage of testing prior to FDA approval:
From Shape magazine:
"The Future of Cellulite Treatment
Clinical trials are underway for a remedy developed by Stony Brook University researchers Marie A. Badalamente, Ph.D., and Alexander B. Dagum, M.D. Their work has led to the development of a collagenase injection, a non-surgical method aimed at smoothing skin by breaking down the collagen that secures fat tissue beneath the skin. The 10 women treated had an average 76 percent reduction in the appearance of cellulite and reported being extremely happy with the results six months after. While a larger phase 2 study is still taking place, researchers are optimistic that this could potentially be the first medically based effective and FDA-approved treatment for cellulite."

I've been carefully studying the photos of post-massive weight loss thigh lifts. Generally, a really pretty good result seems to be obtained in those patients whose primary issue is excess skin sagging. Those patients with pronounced cellulite, however, often have a car less aesthetic result. In the future if this new therapy can be combined with a thigh lift it seems possible that beautiful results (albeit with a scar) can be more uniformly attained. I assume this injectable pharmaceutical therapy could be used anywhere cellulite is a problem - derriere, thighs, even arms in some cases.
LBL I was fine after a day or so. Almost walking upright at 10 days. Walking the neighborhood at one week and walking on the treadmill at the gym by 3 weeks. Pretty much off pain meds except for sleeping at 1 week. That one was a piece of cake.
Thigh lift was a completely different story.

Thanks for your response. The recovery does sound brutal, and I know that surgery has more risks than many procedures have, and she is a factor. I would dearly love to have very improved thighs, but I guess I'll have to wait and see what the docs say about my risk v. potential gain when I have my consults.

I was 55 when I had my VSG and will be at least 57 before I have my plastics done. I'm down about 113 pounds at that point. When I met with the plastics person recommended by my bariatric group (he does a lot of bari patients) and discussed my thighs, his opinion was that the risk did not outweigh the benefit, as his experience has been that there are complications, infection and issues with wound healing in thigh work. Given the number of surgeries he does a year and the major research university hospital which he is a part of, I'm willing to put up with my legs. I see him again next week - trying to decide if I'll do my surgery this year or next.

Keep on losing!

Thanks for saying that. It was subtle enough that no one realizes I had work done on my face though they tell me I look great. They assume that the skin tightened up after WLS (LOL)! They did ask about my tummy because as I mentioned even in my thinner times over the years I still always had a tummy (which I hated).
