Hi Laura,
when did this improve for you? I'm 3 months post. I'd love to start jogging but about 10 feet in it feels like my butt is tearing off and I have to stop and I feel bruised for days afterwards.

What kind of Mixed Connective Tissues do you have? I am scheduled to get a Lower Body Lift on July 28th and I am concerned about infection and blood clots. I have been diagnosed with an Auto Immune Disease but basically the are calling it "Raynauds" where my hands and feet turn white and numb when I am cold.
I am looking for recommendations for a plastic surgeon in the Boston area. Any suggestions?
Make sure that you consult with your PCP about coordinating care when you return to the USA. You will need someone local to look after you should a minor complication arise. Of course you can always go to the ER.
Also, many US plastic surgeons don't want to take care of a patient that had surgery in MX so I suggest either you find one before hand and work that out OR should you need the help of a plastic surgeon afterwards then tell them you had the surgery with a plastic surgeon in another state. Serious complications are rare BUT it did happen to me (and I did not have plastic surgery in MX). I think you are more likely to get the help of a hospital-based plastic surgeon rather than a private practice surgeon should you have more serious complications.
A lot of people say they would not go to MX because if something happened as far as serious complications then you have no legal recourse. The truth is, you have almost no legal recourse with a US plastic surgeon either. It is very expensive and very difficult to sue for malpractice.
There is a woman on Realself who was butchered by a US PS and she only got $100k, I believe... not even enough to cover the costs of the surgeries she will need to TRY and remedy her problems. I think that you can find her review under body lifts.
I have heard some bad stories of patients having PS in the DR that I have not heard about MX.

I stocked up on unscented maxipads from the dollar store to use instead of gauze (much cheaper). I used them between my incisions and my binder to provide a cushion and soak up any blood that might ooze out. I also cut a slit in them and put them around my drains to soak up drips.

I'm short so the toilet seat riser wasn't any help and actually made things worse for me. I don't think you'll need a walker, you'll walk stooped over and go slowly but I never felt the need for one. One thing that I did find useful was a shower chair. Came in very handy since the first time I tried to take a shower I almost passed out. Hate to think what would have happened if I wasn't sitting down. I also bought a computer/laptop table that had lets so I could sit in my chair w/ my computer but not have it on my lap. Also had an TV tray next to my chair for my meds, drinks and other things that I would need right within my reach.
Once your girlfriend leaves and you're on your own just make sure things are at waist level so you don't have to reach up or down to get the things you need. My mom would fill my water jugs and leave them and my food on the shelf in the fridge right at waist height. Very helpful.
That's a great price for all that work and you will be so happy with the results, he is an amazing surgeon. I've had several procedures done and all came out great.

Ha! Me too! And getting my dog's tennis balls out from under the furniture...
And the grabber tool is useful beyond surgery recovery! I use mine to retrieve socks that fall behind the washer and dryer.
