Tubal Ligation and TT
I was thinking of trying to get a tubal ligation during my tummy tuck, my insurance will cover the tubal ligation but probably not the tummy tuck, and I was wondering if anyone else has done these two procedures together and how much you ended up having to pay of the bill. I assume you have to coordinate between two different doctors to have both of these procedures at once and don't know that I recall seeing anyone do them together. I want the tubal ligation but I don't want anymore lap scars so I thought it would be good to combine. Any info anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Heidi

I have often combined TT/LBL with tubal ligation, bladder surgery, and other minor OB-Gyn procedures. I be sure the OB-Gyn does not cut the belly button as it has a hard enough time healing anyway.
My colleagues know about TT/LBL and we together plan what will be safe and efficient for our patient.
The combined procedures CAN end up saving you some money on your hospital/overnight stay.

I am having an anchor tummy tuck on 1/27. I decided to have a breast lift at the same time. I have Medical Mutual insurance and they are covering the tummy tuck, but my breast lift is self-pay. I was told it is far less expensive to have the procedure added on, and you pay since the hospital stay is already covered, you are already under, ect. I had to pay the surgeon the extra fee, call the anesthesia department and give them my credit card for the cost of the extra anesthesia , and then call the hospital cashier and say "2 1/2 hours of self-pay" for the extra OR time that I will need. I decided to do this, because I don't like to have another surgery - the bypass was enough for me, and I want to get it over with! I am worried that the bills will be appropriately separated, but my ps office was really efficient and helpful so far, so I hope it will be okay. The big worry and wait was with the insurance company, but they did approve it. My suggestion is work with the ps office. I was told they do this all the time. I am really, really nervous with this surgery for some reason - maybe even more than the bypass, because I keep reading about all the pain involved!
