Ruptured implant
I had breast implants in 2007 and just recently found out that one of them has ruptured. I'm kinda upset because insurance may not pay to have them removed!
Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue!

Unless your breast implants were for recontruction after cancer insurance wont pay for it.

I got silicone implants in 2004. One ruptured three weeks ago. I'm prepared to bear the cost of removal because I know they're considered cosmetic. Since I'm "of a certain age" they're going to see if Medicare will pay to remove them, but it's very iffy. In any case, they won't cover a lift or replacement of the implants, so it would still be a fraction of the cost of the surgery. I'm not interested in replacing them, I just want to get rid of them!
I'm a little irritated that it's not considered an emergency, and it looks like it'll be next month (February) before they can schedule my surgery.
I'm responding to this because those looking to have implants need to know this can happen (they're not expected to last more than 10 years or so). My surgeon knew of a lady whose implants had ruptured about 15 years ago, but she didn't have the money to pay for removal. Now they're horribly disfigured. Buyer beware!!!

Also, Depending on the type of silicone too you might be safe even if ruptured. I know I made sure my were 'gummy' ones so if it every does rupture it will stay in once place. Good luck!
