Post surgery swelling

Hi all! I know everyone is different, but I'm curious as to how after surgery did it take for your swelling to go down? I'm 4 weeks post-op (ETT, BL, AL) and still have quite a bit of swelling. Mostly I'm just sick of the compression garments. I appreciate any information you can provide. I need to see some light at the end of the tunnel!

I had some degree of swelling for over 6 months. The worst of it was before the 12-week mark.

Thanks Erin! 6 months?!?!? Geez! Okay, I guess I should have a seat and get comfortable. Do you feel the difference in appearance immediately (2-3 weeks post-op) vs. 6 months was minimal or drastic? I'm wondering how much of what I see is the "new me", and how much is swelling.

Oh, it was drastic. At the time I was so happy with how I looked at 2-3 weeks that I couldn't comprehend.

This is me at 2 weeks (left) and 4-5 weeks (right)

...and this is me at 6 months

I was told that initially swelling decreases fairly quickly, so you'll see something like 80% of it gone in the first 4-6 weeks. But that last 20% takes FOREVER.

I'm a little over four months out. I still notice swelling, but it's not nearly as bad as it was the first couple of months. I don't wear my compression garments 24 hrs a day anymore (or more like 22-23 hours a day), but I still wear them maybe 12 or so hours a day. Not sure I need to, though...

Mine peaked at around 5 weeks. I was bigger at 5 weeks than at 1 week post op. Everyone is different, it takes a long while for it really to improve. I gained 13lbs in fluids and 3 clothes sizes with my plastics. Top one is 6months post op.
