Mammogram after BL???
just had one last week and surprisingly, it wasn't painful. only thing is . . . the mammogram after bl will be your new baseline. received a call today that i must go back for an ultrasound on my left breast (but sis assured me . . .she does ultrasounds . . .not to worry as it's probably scar tissue that appears like a possible abnormality). i'm scheduled to have that done on october 12th.
oh, and was so nice to feel comfy disrobing and not having the previously long mamms .

I haven't had one yet. I'm only 35 and have no elevated risk factors. But, my PS told me that it was likely they would always be abnormal going forward and I'd need follow up for that.

It likely just means you'll need an ultrasound with your mammogram. Or a diagnostic mammogram. Not biopsies every year.

I have had several since my BL. It was not painful and there is no way it would stretch it out.
I had to get a follow-up ultrasound following the first few post bl. This past year I had a 2D/3D combo mammogram and did not have to have an ultrasound. I plan on getting another 2D/3D one this year.

I had a Brest lift and implants in 2009 and have only had to get one ultrasound about 3 years ago. I had developed a cyst. After a lift you have a regular mammogram if you decide to have implants too then they do 2 mammograms. 1 with both implant and tissue and one with just tissue. I can't say it will or won't hurt because it all depends on the lady doing it. But most time it doesn't hurt.
Check with your surgeon on when a mammo is OK...usually I like to wait 4 to 6 months. There can be areas of scar or fat that warrant further workup after any kind of breast surgery, and its never a bad idea to get your PS involved as they may well know what or where that area is (usually at the bottom of the breast.)
