How long after Gastric Bypass did you have surgery??
I had gastric bypass in 2004. I never looked into plastic surgery but my inner thighs and lower abdomen are a nightmare.
2 questions. Would this be considered cosmetic? Or would this be considered something other than cosmetic because it's a result of weight loss surgery? And if there is a chance that it would be anything other than cosmetic, have I waited too long? Is there a time frame to have plastic surgery after Gastric Bypass before they do consider it cosmetic?
It should be considered reconstructive because obesity is classified as a disease, but.. insurance companies suck. Ultimately, whether it's covered or not will all rely on your specific insurance requirements.

Sometimes insurance will cover just the skin removal if there are documented issues like infection, continued friction causing skin breakdown and/or other issues like these. The key is picture and physician documentation over at least 6 months and over the counter and prescription medication failure to completely "cure" the irritation. The muscle tightening is usually not covered at all.
Hi there,
i have anthem/blue cross in CA. My surgeon was able to get 360 lower body lift, TT, with muscle repair, and liposuction on thighs covered by insurance. It is all about the codes your surgeon uses for the paperwork sent to insurance.
