Another pressing question,

How soon were you able or felt like driving?

My DH has Alzheimer's and is in a memory community. He's excited about the surgery; perv,does the motorboating sound ?. He"s less than 5 minutes away from me and I've made arrangements for him along with my Fsurgerysupport team. He usually does well while I'm traveling with our daily phone calls. It's around the 6th day he starts to miss my physical presence.

My surgeon knows I'm a caregiver; that said, I've waited 7 years to have the surgery.

I know we heal and experience pain at different levels. I've read ranges from 5 days to 13 days postoperative. Just curious.

I would think in a week you would be OK to drive short distances, as long as you are off pain meds. I probably waited 2 weeks, but I did not need to go anywhere.

You'll need to be off narcotics for 24 hours before you can drive. So.. it'll depend. My arms and breasts were pretty pain free and I felt good enough to go to the movies on Friday - my surgery was Monday. Although I didn't drive. Then I drove myself to my follow-up on Tuesday, so 8 days post-op. (This was after my mastopexy/UBL. I did my arms with my LBL.) The one thing I'd be concerned about in your case is range of motion for arms to be safe driving. But I think that's something only you can know.

So it's possible :)

A lot will depend on pain levels, swelling, and surgeon advice. You don't want to be driving while on narcotics. You need to be able to lift your arms etc.. turn wheel etc... I'm the onlly driver in my house. Took about a week
