Spanx - sizing

Hi All -

my LBL is scheduled for next week. The nurse told me I'd be wearing a hospital-supplied abdominal binder for the first 3-4 weeks, then I could switch over to a Spanx girdle.

I went to a department store because they carry the more heavy-duty line of Spanx ("Sculpt"). I'm between a medium and a large - couldn't decide which to get. I'll have less skin - so maybe medium. Or I may have a lot of swelling - so maybe large. AAARRRGGH. I ended up just buying them both since they can be returned within 30 days. But who knows - I may end up needing both, depending on how swollen I am on any given day.

any insight on this, though? As I said, I can always return one (or both!), but I''m just curious. Thanks!

My insight is - you did the right thing by buying both! My sizing for compression stuff was all over the place after all of my surgeries. And, even at 4 weeks, be prepared to not actually want to pull anything on - I was much happier with compression garments that had hooks and eyes and zippers the entire way up.

Also.. if surgery is next week and you'll be in the abdominal binder for 3-4 weeks, I think you might want to return them now and rebuy them when you're closer to needing them? Since you're outside of the 30 day window.

thanks!!

I was a little worried about trying things on when I was in a binder and hunched over, so I figured I'd get them before the surgery - but then again, I'll be in a binder and hunched over even when I try them on if they're already purchased and here at home, so..

I didn't think about the hooks and eyes and zippers being easier. I don't think any of the Spanx lines have anything like that, but I'm sure another brand would be fine. She may have just said Spanx since a lot of people know that brand, and it's easy to find..

I hate Spanx. They are uncomfortable to me. I prefer Flexees brand.

I wore many things in a small before surgery but wore a large compression garment from my surgeon. I was so depressed!! lol

One thing someone here recommended to me was to use a Cupid brief like THIS after I moved on from the compression garment. It has hook and eyes and made me feel all pulled together.
