Hi,

I am new to this forum, but its rather usefull so far. I am planning to have a tummy tuck and lipo toward the end of the year and was researching the options. Should I go back to Europe to have it done, or do it in Singapore. I went to see Dr Woffles and all looks well, though expensive and he was a bit arrogant. Dont want to do it in Bangkok as I hear to many bad stories from there. Last week I was watching Fasttrack on BBC world and they featured a company in Penang called Beautiful Holidays, it looked great and the quote I got from them is intresting. Has anybody been there or have friends who have been there?? Would love to know about your experience

Please help.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.

Having had seemingly every complication under the sun, I would NEVER do plastic surgery away from my home. I am still under my plastic surgeon's care for open wounds and I am nearly 11 weeks out and had a pulmonary embolism from it just 3 weeks ago. Not everyone is that unlucky, but I'm not sure what I would have done if I were even a state away from home let alone a world away.

I know that there are extremely highly skilled plastic surgeons out of the country, and the cost differential is enormous. I am sure that most plastic surgeons catering to an overseas clientele will go out of their way to ensure that their patients are safe and stable before they are released to fly back home. But the possibility of having a serious problem after you leave that doctor's care (and country!) is something which must be considered. I'm not sure how to resolve that potential for trouble, as I doubt most overseas surgeons have backup/follow-through doctors here in the states, if any.

My complications didn't start until 2 weeks post-op starting with pneumonia, then wound dehiscence week 2.5 - week 4 with treatment still ongoing (week 11), then a pulmonary embolism at 7.5 weeks. Just an example to show you're not necessarily out of the woods at 7-10 days!
