Belt Lipectomy My Skin Feels Like Wood!

I am just over six weeks post op from a belt lipectomy. The surgery itself was BRUTAL and having my drains back up and getting a really bad infection (and hospitalized again) was bad too but now I'm back to work and I can't wear normal pants because my mons area is HUGE, swollen and crooked (I look like I had a gender reassignment, which is great for someone who wants that but it's not the look I was going for.

Worse, all of the skin on my hips and back feels like wood! I keep thinking that my underpants and skirt is falling down.

Is there any physical therapy or anything I can do for this? I've talked to my PS and he keeps telling me to massage it. ...and that mons area.... uhg. I'm just SO uncomfortable. I can walk but not fast and at work, the stairway is wide so I tend to trot down and up and it hurts so I'm taking the stairs.

Any suggestions? I just want this numbness to GO AWAY and this "package" to look female again!

Thanks!

Are you massaging your back and hips? In theory, anything that increases blood flow should help with the numbness. But, honestly, I'm a year out from my LBL and I've still got some numbness around the incision line. (My surgeon informed me of this pre-op, so I knew what I was getting into.)

For the mons, it sounds like swelling that will pass with time. Ice and/or heat might help.

I'm trying to. I can't bear to touch the mons area. It's miserable.

As I mentioned in a reply below, I'm back to work this week and walking a lot more so I feel like things may be getting stimulated a bit.

Thanks!

I know exactly the wooden butt cheek feeling you are describing! I'm 5 months out and it's no longer there in relation to the way that clothes sit on me but I still feel numb when I touch my upper hip/butt. I had two c-sections and was very numb after both so I anticipated this and now it's not bothering me. My lower stomach is still completely numb as well as one very small piece of my mons.

Thanks. I just went back to work this week and I'm moving a lot more than I had been and I realized today that it seems to be going away, slightly. The area of the small of my back seems to be less.

I can't go near my mons! I'll go through the roof! It's so swollen.....

I am 2 to 2 ½ years out from all my surgeries and AJ had numbness for a long time and yes my butt felt weird. Actually reading this post and thinking about it made me realize for the first time all the numbness is gone.

After awhile it would come and go... of course you don't think about it when it is gone... So just realized. Wow. It is gone.

Good! I'm glad you feel better. I have to have a revision so I'm thinking I won't feel right for a LONG time. I made the appointment yesterday and I put it off to November. I've already lost the whole first half of the summer, I don't want to lose the rest. I'll do it in the winter.
