Day 17 post-op and discouraged

Well, my cats have been super concerned about me after each of my recent surgeries and it is almost impossible to keep them from sniffing and snuggling unless they are shut out of the room. The key for me has been to have small pillows to put on my belly that they can sit on. My PS didn't suggest one, but my OBGYN surgeon and RNY surgeon both wanted their patients to use a "cough" pillow to hug after surgery. I've found it useful for this surgery too since my ab muscles are tight and it doubles as a kitty throne on my belly. They can knead it and curl up on it and feel close to me while my belly is protected. Otherwise, OUCH!

I think it looks like you're healing great!! If the drain wasn't getting that serous drainage out, it would be building up inside. When the insides are healed enough, the drainage will stop. Keep the protein intake up.

Not giving medical advice, but I was a wound specialist in my Nursing years.

Thanks Pat! I appreciate your input. The incisions are really looking good for the time post-op and the drainage is slowly going down, just not as fast as I'd like. I keep repeating to myself the mantra "no seromas" when I feel discouraged! It's down to about 15 cc a day now so it hopefully won't be much longer.

You look wonderful. The drain must be uncomfortable, and I know it is frustrating. Betcha it'll be out very soon. Hang in there!
