SOOO grateful that today went better and that you got some information about what is happening with your body. Sounds disturbing but certainly under control. Breathe deeply and be gentle with yourself!

I'm glad everything went well! I had a spit stitch that opened up a 1/4" spot along my LBL and it was very concerning looking (deep and open). I had a lot of anxiety about it because I felt like I was literally going to fall apart, but my PS kept assuring me that it was all fine, lol.

Cecily, I had to pack my incision on my leg. She had to slice it open in the office because I had developed a pocket of fluid - she gave me the choice of packing or a drain. I chose to pack. Oh, it was so terrifying at the time. I would sit in the chair and force myself to get up the nerve to use that stick and pack my leg. I cried and cried. But I got used to it and by the end I was packing it too well. I was hindering the healing because I was jamming so much in there. So be careful with that as time goes by. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that my hole healed and you can't even see where it was now.

I'm glad it all went as well as it did. And very glad that you're not dealing with an infection or abscess.

SallyCat, thank you so much for sharing that! Sounds like yours was a seroma? Mine are more like little Grand Canyons, but a packed opening is an opening so knowing yours healed nicely is very comforting.

So the first time I had to pack them, one fell out on the floor. Which I can't pick up because I can't bend over to pick anything up! I now have figured out how to hold my legs together while I get the poise pads ready to wrap around my thigh incisions and those hold it in. And then wriggle up the compression garment without anything shifting to hold everything in. So much exhausting juggling involved in wound care...

Yes a seroma, but a really deep channel. It made me sick at first to see how deep it was. Of course since then I changed careers and got in the medical field. We pack wounds and place drains daily in my dept (lots of drains for sleeve leaks which was frightening to me before surgery - I didn't want to be one of our patients!) and act like it's no big deal. But I have never forgotten how big of a deal it was to me at the time. It's totally foreign.

It sounds like you have figured out a way to make it work for you, so that's good. One day at a time. Hugs.

Oh my, that sounds really scary. He did say he didn't know if there was tunneling. I hope not! How cool that you ended up in the medical field after all of this! It'll sure show you if you're cut out for the ick, won't it!

What sort of compression garment do you have? Mine fully separated with zippers and hooks on the entire outside edge - no wriggling involved! I can't imagine trying to pull a garment on over my incisions. :/

He uses Marena Recovery garments that go from just over ankles to under the boobs and straps that go over the shoulders. It's got hooks/eyes with zippers over the top that go from mid hip to under boob on both sides. So it hooks and zips everywhere I have incisions. The wriggling is just that he wants it tight (can't pinch any extra fabric) and when you slip it down to go to the bathroom, it requires a lot of wriggling to get it back where it needs to be. He wants the crotch sewn together so the edges don't get anywhere near the thigh incisions so I can't just pee with it on.

My problem now is my legs are a size medium but my torso is a large, and I think I'm too tall for the whole contraption, so even all the way on, the shoulder straps totally dig in. He is more concerned about my legs right now, so he wants the tight Medium compression there, but that means I can't close it over my waist as he doesn't want too much compression on the incisions over my hip bones, but I use my binder there. I'm just Magyvered at the moment so I dislike this part intensely.
