Surgeon doesn't do LBL in one procedure?
I booked a consult with a PS reasonably local to me and had a good chat with his office manager. Much to my surprise, he does not do LBL in one step. Instead, he does the tummy tuck first and then the back at least 6 months later.
The surgeon was one of three in the province recommended by the provincial bariatric program and I've heard wonderful things from a past patient; her scars are beautiful!!! I was hoping to have everything done in one go, but now I'm wondering if recover and infection control would be easier in a staged process. Has anyone done it this way?

I am having an abdominoplasty and mastopexy with Douglas Forman on Friday. He doesn't do the front and back at the same time either because he says that it causes stretching on the incisions in opposite directions making it harder to heal. I know of many surgeons who do the complete LBL (front and back) in one procedure and people are happy, but I am willing to take my surgeon's word for it that it will mean better healing for me.

Hi First off, congrats on your weight loss :) Secondly you mentioned that this Dr. was one of "three" in the province's provincial program ( Canada?) Then why not go for another two consults? Its your right to get second opinions and have it even possibly covered by OHIP, or whatever provinces medicare it is.
Good Luck :)
