What will I look like right after surgery?

So I have surgery on May 18th for an extended mastopexy and extended abdominoplasty. I am really excited about the final result possibilities. I know from reading old posts that there can be some or alot of swelling with PS, so I am wondering what I will look like for the first few weeks (or more****il my body adjusts. It sounds like pants size goes up for some people with the swelling. What about breast size if I'm not having any implants or fat transfer? Were you very bruised? How long did it take for you to be able to see the changes? Is it a case of having to look worse before it gets better?

I really trust my surgeon's skill, but just trying to wrap my mind around what the early recovery will be like.

Thanks!

If you're willing to PM me a phone number I can share some pictures of what my swelling looked like. I didn't have any lipo, so very little bruising, but I was more swollen then I even imagined I was. My breasts were much larger than I anticipated them being and have since come down to exactly what I expected. My butt was the thing that really made me go "holy crap", but it looks like you aren't going with a full LBL?

No, just the front for now. I am wondering whether I will be too swollen to fit into my work clothes when I go back to the office.

depends on how long you will be off. I went back after 2.5 weeks. I was back in my regular clothes at 3-4 weeks. i swelled up 2-3 sizes immediately post op so lived in leggings. You swell up in your breasts as well, but mine came down to regular size by week 4. he warned me not to buy bras till 3 months post op. you will be in a sports bra for the first 4 weeks. I bought a cheap zip up one off of amazon.

I also did not have any bruising..also no lipo. I'm nearly 5 weeks now, and will tell you there is still swelling and i don't like fabric on my waist still. it gets red and angry looking where the waistband is, but i'm sure that is residual swelling.

My doctor wants me out of the office for 3 weeks, so I plan to take a week or more if needed of vacation time and then do telework as I feel able. My office has been very flexible about that. I can certainly wear sweats at home, but when I go back to the office, I really should wear more dressy clothes.

dresses work well post op because they don't usually cinch at the waist like pants or skirts. I wore dresses all last week at work

The other part of the problem is that I've been a grunt with very little contact with the public for 15 years. I try to dress nice but no one would say anything if I was more casual for a while. Soon after I return to work after surgery, I am going for a supervisory promotion and while I won't have to wear a suit, I do need to wear business wear.

You may want to have loose stretchy clothes. Even after any drains come out, the inscions are still tender. I am not a dress person, but I got a couple and wore them all summer. No waistlines, zipper, belts, etc.

My breast lift was easy to heal because no muscles were involved and the inscions were not that long.

Thanks! I haven't worn a dress for more than 20 years but I may have to in this case. I have dress pants with elastic backs in a larger size, but if that doesn't work, I may have to figure out the dress thing.

I dont wear dresses, but they made a big difference - esp when the drains were still in. I got this big caftan and I could go out with the drains in. Friend me.
