Plastic surgeon
Hello. I am currently seeking a plastic surgeon to do a lower body lift. I live in South Dakota and am having a really hard time finding a plastic surgeon near me. I would really love to hear from anyone who has has a lower body lift with a surgeon that they really felt comfortable with and had really good results. I was referred to a plastic surgeon by my bariatric doctor and actually had an appointment scheduled for April 16th, and then I saw a Facebook post yesterday afternoon complete with horrible horrible pictures of a surgery gone very wrong. I am cancelling that appointment today. I am certain that am going to have to travel out of the state and would really appreciate some recommendations from people who have had this surgery or at least a surgery along the same lines as I am looking into. I have lost over 200 pounds and have a lot of skin that needs to be removed.
Thanks in advance for any information.
Tammy

Hi Tammy!
I think you'll find that the really good surgeons with lots of experience working with massive weight loss patients have people travel from all over to get their surgeries with them. And most do phone consultations so you don't have to travel to see if someone is a fit for you.
Good for you for trusting your gut when it comes to that other surgeon!
Tammy, I answered you on the RNY forum. Do you think you will get insurance to pay for any of it or not?

I believe that they will pay for a panniculectomy...I will be paying the difference out of pocket :(

I have a consult in Minneapolis, MN on the 29th, with Dr. Gervais. His pics and reviews looked really good.
They do not take insurance. I decided that I didn't want to wait and fight with my insurance to pay for part of the surgery. I have only had one rash and haven't had any other health type issues with the extra skin.
Guess I will see how this consult goes, and go from there.
It looks like you are doing really well after your surgery. Wish you a continued speedy recovery!!

Tammy, have you heard anything from any surgeons or your insurance? I just had my 2nd consult and am learning alot about how different doctors work.

I traveled to Monterrey Mexico and Dr Sauceda for all my PS. His speciality is WLS patients. I had the works done and am very happy with my results. I even went back in 2013 for an upper body lift.
Dr Sauceda will be Las Vegas in August and will be available for consults on 3rd and 4th.
