12 days post op depression
You are spot on. I just need to learn to love myself, and accept myself for how i look...good and bad. Im never going to be a model, or have the "perfect body". Even models nitpick themselves. I blame society for body shaming people.
On a good note...this morning i was feeling pretty good, decided to take a shower, and i was like "hmm, maybe ill try my jeans on, and see how swollen I still am"....so i grabbed a size 8 jeans (i normally wear a 6, but sometimes fluctuate to an 8)...and guess what??!! THEY FIT!!!!!! YES!!!!! Tears of joy! yes, my thighs are a bit swollen still, however, i was able to pull jeans on with no problem or having to force them up. WOot WOot!!!! Small accomplishments. :)
Again, thank you for the reminder to love myself, even if im not perfect, im a perfect me :)

My plastic surgeon called it something like the remodeled house in the neighborhood effect (that?s not it, but close enough). He said that a neighborhood of houses looks fine until one house remodels and adds on. Then the houses next door start to look rundown when they didn?t before and those people want to work on their houses too. So you fix your stomach and then your flanks don't looks as good in comparison. Or your boobs, arms, etc. I can see how easy it would be to get carried away with wanting to fix tiny imperfections!
In my case it's the things I've already had fixed that I feel like I could have somehow had a better result. Like - "Maybe I should have opted for implants" and "If I had, had a Fleur De Lis would I have had tighter results in my stomach".
I actually haven't nitpicked at my arms/legs too much. Although, I realize that my laxity in my arms is worse because I haven't been able to work out much for many weeks. I've found that getting back into exercise has helped immensely in being happy with myself again.

My daughter (25 y/o) also has WLS and is researching the Fleur De Lis...and of course when she saw my stomach was like " you should have had the Fleur De Lis, it would have made your stomach look much better. UGH.
Im thinking PS is similar to tattoos....once you get one, u then start thinking about the next. I'd love to have my inner thighs fixed, so i dont look like i have elephant legs, and then maybe a breast augmentation, and finally a facelift. oh, but wait, then i would like a LBL, and maybe a brazilian butt lift. Where does it end? I suppose when I cant afford to have any of the surgeries done, right? lol
I just want to be able to wear shorts and a tank top during summer months, and feel comfortable in my own skin.
PS aint cheap, and insurance doesnt pay for it,cuz they dont deem it medically needed. :(
I go see my PS this morning, and ive got a few things to discuss with him. One being my eyesight. Ever since surgery, when i try to read something, whether it be on a shampoo bottle, my cell phone, emails, computer, etc, i cant see it. :( Also, i noticed this morning, while bending over to dry my hair, i have 2 little "tuffs of fat" around my belly button. Obviously prior to surgery they were bigger, but i would have thought surgery would have gotten rid of that! I dont want to look like a female dog that just gave birth ya know? :(
Also, early this morning, I woke with more severe stomach pain, uner chest, but above belly button area. I cant sleep on my side and have been forced to sleep on my back since surgery. My back hurts, i did something to my neck the first few days cuz it hurts to turn to the left (maybe from being forced to sleep on my back perhaps?), my sides are killing me, as if someone has been punching me repeatedly for a long time, and ive been very dizzy lately. I stopped taking the pain meds and muscle relaxers a few days ago, and just finishing up the antibiotic. Almost felt like vomiting this morning from the pain, but talked myself out of it, cuz im sure after a tummy tuck, thats the last thing i want to do. Just the thought of using my stomach muscles to vomit....no thanks!
I go back to work tomorrow. Hoping PS says i dont have to wear the binder with the incch thick cushion anymore, cuz it makes me look like im pregnant! Id be ok with wearing just the binder, cuz its thin, but the cushioning makes me hot and itch like crazy. :(
Anyone know about tummy tuck surgery and sex drive? Mine was lost for the last 2 years or so, but ever since surgery, idk, its like in overdrive or something. lol TMI i know, sorry.
When did you remove the Scopolamine patch from behind your ear (if you had one)? For a couple different surgeries, I left it there much longer than the 72 hours it was supposed to work and it made my vision blurry.
The tufts of fat are probably loose skin and yes, I still look like that post-birth-dog a little when I bend all the way over. They can't get rid of all of our lax skin, and honestly, our skin just likes to stretch a bit more. You are also still going to be in the middle of swell hell and nothing looks like what it will when you're a few months out.
As far as sex drive, mine felt strangely supercharged for the first couple of weeks - maybe because we had been given the suggestion to wait 4 weeks a minimum (we did not). It's now back to the normal I was used to post WLS and that's down some from what it was before WLS.

back from doctors. so regarding the eyesight, he said i should go to an eye doctor....i admit i forgot about the patch for 2 days. dr said that any remnants of medications would be out of my system by now, so he doesnt think my eyesight issue is from the patch. secondly, he told me to stop taking the antibiotic and that may help with the dizziness. I then showed him two spots near my belly button that i noticed this morning that are pudgy...so he was like" oh there may be some fluid in there, i can take that out" he leaves the room and came back with 2 needles, one small one with some fast action numbing juice, and the second needle was HUGE!!!!!....ok fine, i take the first lil needle fine, since my stomach is still numb from surgery...but he had to use the big needle in like 4 or 5 diff locations to find where the fluid was coming from. THEN, just when i think he was just gonna grab a bandaid and call it a day,he has yet another needle with what he called an " alcohol combo"..and says it may sting......ummmm...."sting" is not a word i would describe the amound ot PAIN i felt. HOLY HELL! felt like someone cutting me with a knife...and he had to do it in two diff spots. YIKES!!!! not a fun experience...and i have to go back yet again next week. ugh. oh, AND i still have to wear the stupid binder WITH the inch thick cushions..which is gonna suck, cuz my shirts wont fit, and it makes me look pregnant ? BLAHHH....
I can relate to this. I gained 12lbs in swelling from surgery, I'm 2 weeks post op today and still 2 pant sizes bigger, I especially love my ken doll man crotch. Other than the obvious tummy butt swelling it seems like most of the fluid has settled in my vajayjay.
I plan to live in leggings and long shirts. I'm back in the office next week. So will have to plan my clothes. Can't wait to get back into my regular clothes.

i didnt even bother to weigh myself after surgery....dont really remember last time i weighed myself....prob only when i go to the doctor. lol
As for the swelling in the "nether regions", mine was actually smaller!!! think the doctor did some lipo on the mons pubis area. Apparently that is normally a separate surgery, but i guess he thru that in for free :)
I swelled up really bad (mostly in legs and hips) for like 3-4 days..but then the swelling went down what seemed like overnight, and i was so happy to put real jeans on again. lol
