Hi Happy...Thank you for your response and comment. Something I did not know as a younger girl and an adult until I lost weight was that I have scoliosis which is that curved spine. I always noticed my sweater or any shirt over my pants had a slight lift not a straight angle on the bottom. Always told to stand up straight which is quite difficult if the spine is curved. (Genes)I know there is a surgery now but too late for me...Painful I understand, but I would have had it in my teen years....stretching won't do it for me, however, hopefully it will work for you...Not only that I do have osteoporsis of the hips and osteopenia in some other areas. I have fallen, but knock on wood, haven't broken anything major...wrist and ankle and foot....nothing that bothered me as I have diabetic neuropathy in my feet and didn't feel a thing, pain wise....I don't know if my profile is still on here but I do have quite a history. I had Type 1.5 Diabetes, on the insulin pump, kidney failure so was lucky enough to get a PANCREAS AND KIDNEY txp 14 yrs ago....no diabetes nor dialysis after. I am visually impaired thks to diabetes complications which are SO REAL...

I am a very positive and proud person as well as quite healthy.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful Valentines Day.

Talk to you soon.

I know your question about a Dexa Scan is for Alese.

Thank you anyway! I have never had one and have an appointment this Friday with my primary care doctor. A new one, as my old doctor moved away. So perfect timing... thanks!! This is a big area of concern for me with my Mom history and having RNY. Although my labs last month that my WLS ordered came back very good and absorbing well.

You're welcome.

The problem with bone health is that your blood will leach calcium from your bones if you're not getting enough. So there's no way to tell if your calcium is good and if your bones are healthy from just blood work. (Although, elevated PTH will indicate problems.) It's important to get DEXA scans regularly, especially as we age, to ensure that our bones are healthy.

Thanks no doctor has ever mentioned to me. Like everyone says have to be our own advocates!

Hi Gwen....

I do have a bone density test every year or two depending on ins, but yes, for years. I do have osteoporsis in the hlps and osteopenia in other areas. I've seen my osteoposis become osteopenia so it can go back and forth....I've fallen and broke my wrist, foot and ankle but not at the same time...3 different times! The reason is I have diabetic retinopathy and numbness in my feet (diabetic neuropathy) and together I am off balance, which has been explained to me that my brain does not know where my feet are and the propensity to fall is greater....yes, I do use a cane (4 prong) for support. Don't get older if you can hold off

I haven't checked lately but I may still have my profile still on here...I suppose I should update..

Have a Happy V D..

Hi Gwen...

Hope you had a nice Valentines Day. Mine is always quiet with two beautiful V cards from my honey, (hubby) and my 4 kitties...LOL Got some flowers last week.

I must ask you, as everyone is way ahead of me in computer knowledge. I tried to set my ticker with my goal wt and all I got was the beginning without reaching my goal wt, which I did. Do you know how to do it on this Obesity site?....usually it is every simple.....

Take care and have a lovely evening.

Congratulations on your loss and great muscle tone... you have done phenomenal! It had taken me almost 10 years (this May) to begin to consider. It is things like the beach or sleeveless shirts that are my problem. Married a long time to a good man, who did not care so that was never an issue. Just like you, in clothing you would never know. Take it slow and see how you feel. Your muscles look great and you can tell you have pumped it out! You should be very proud.
