LBL/BL Tomorrow
Thank you! I'm super impressed both with the experience I had with my surgeon and with my body's reaction to surgery. It's all gone very well!

I'm going to check with a couple of surgeons in the Chicago area as well, since I live in southern Wisconsin and could recuperate at home (after spending maybe a couple of days in a hotel in Chicago). Going to the east coast would mean I'd probably need to stay in the area for c. 3 weeks (I'd like to have my drains out and have a post-op exam or two behind me before I head back home), which is definitely more of a pain, but I'd be willing to do it if that turns out to be my best option.
For what it's worth - Dr. Michaels removes drains at your first pre-op appointment which is ~8 days post-op. (And, for my legs when my second drain wasn't quite ready to come out at that point, he showed me how to do it myself so I could remove it at home instead of needing to come back in.) He also does video consults, which can help with the long distance thing!
But, yeah, I totally get it. Planning to do recovery away from home is definitely not optimal!
