UBL/Brachioplasty update

Hi all,

I'm 15 days out and doing much better. Swelling has finally started to diminish and tho I'd like it to disappear as fast as it showed up, alas, I'm expecting it to take a month. Still, progress is there.

Last night was first night in bed and was ok. I'm off T3s so a little discomfort happening and body still wakes twice at night for it's dose, but I think it'll keep getting better. Taking bromelain/turmeric pills, plus enjoying fresh pineapple so I hope that's helping, too.

Have a follow-up on Monday morning. I'm hoping she sees no issues as I'd like to go to Vegas with my cousin on Nov 30. But, I won't risk it if she has concerns. Steri strips still on so I haven't seen the actual incisions. That'll be interesting. I can see the bruises no problem - yikes!

Did any of you fly at 6 weeks post-Brachioplasty? Any issues, tips or tricks?

We're on day 3 of blizzards with heavy snowfall warnings so luckily I don't have to go out until Monday.

Take care!

I'm glad the swelling has started to diminish! I've heard it can take up to a year for all of the swelling to be completely gone. Which is sort of crazy to think about.

I know NYMom flew pretty early after one of her surgeries.

Good luck with the weather!

I flew 2 ½ weeks post Lower Body Lift. Cross country to my nephews wedding. That was a little crazy and I don't really suggest it that early out just because of the sheer exhaustion but by Nov 30, you should be fine.

Since I was early out Doc had me give myself shots of lovenox before the flights. Shooting up in the airport bathroom LOL...

swelling is a funny thing, it can come and go in the beginning. Sounds like you are doing great.

Thanks for the info. I will see how it all goes. I want/need to be able to deal with my luggage and carry on at the airport/plane. Once at the hotel I'm all able using a bellman so no worries there.

Swelling is being very passive aggressive: better one day, worse the next. Could relate to my trying to do too much too soon. My head is restless and wants to do stuff!

One of the things that I was often told for my dad's benefit was that there's nothing wrong/no shame with asking for assistance in an airport. If it will be better for your health - ask for transport!

Agreed 100%. It's a mindset I need to get out of. I get very disconcerted when the porters run up to you and offer to take your bags before you're even out of the car. I get a little defensive. Must work on these things. AT a hotel, I have no problem with getting help. That said, I want to be sure I could handle these items if needed, just in case.

Funny enough, I just got off the phone with my mom and she said "I'm going to parent you now. I don't want you to even consider this trip so soon after your surgery. I don't want you to do irreparable damage". (I'm almost 50). I mentioned about the porters and bellpersons but also assured her it's only a thought right now and I am very cautious. Nothing planned or booked other than engaging my cousin as a possible travel companion and "beck and call girl".

I think our moms will always worry.
