Do I need a long sleeved t-shirt under my arm compression garments?

Hi all,

Now that you've all brought me back to reality, more advice is needed: do you recommend a long sleeve t-shirt be worn under my upper body & arm compression garments after surgery? If so, any specific inexpensive brand you'd recommend?

I ask because I know wearing a tank top under my abdominal binder after my tummy tuck surgery made all the difference for chafing and comfort, especially while I had drains. But even beyond the drains those undershirts made that scratchy, stretchy, stiff garment bearable for those 6 weeks.

Wondering if I need to do the same with the upper body, especially arms.

Thanks!

I didn't wear anything under my upper body compression garments although I did use pantyliners where the garment met the incision to give the incision some padding and protection.

If you do wear clothing, make sure that the seams aren't located in the same place as your incisions are.

With the arm compression no didn't wear a long sleeve T. Yes I wore the long tank for the LBL but somehow this doesn't work the same.

Did not use a t-shirt. Arm compression garments (mine) did not have zippers, hooks, etc. They have smooth seem on te top -away from the inscision. I suggest a spare, or you will be speed washing and drying. I wore mine for way beyond 6 months (I had an extended lift - from 3 in below elbow up through armpit and down side chest wall fro another 5 inches. )

I actually did wear a thin long sleeved shirt under my arm compression. I found the elastic in the garment too stiff - much more stiff that compression garments for other parts of the body. Once I slipped on that shirt, wearing the garment was not a problem.
