They gave me 2 or 3 pillows and helped fold a blanket just right to prop me up. I've been in several hospitals......ALL hospital beds suck. Ha!

Your experience is definitely different than mine! My reconstructive surgeries, in the US, were done on an in-patient basis if I wanted (which I did, for the first one), I had great care, and the hospital bed I was in for recovery was quite comfortable.

I was in Monterrey Jan 2011 & Jan 2013. I spent 7 nights in the clinic before moving to the hotel. It's a hospital bed. There's also a love seat where I spent a lot of time during the day. :)

I can't speak to Dr. Sauceda, but I can add the following regarding traveling so far for surgery:

I haven't had the most typical recovery and had to be seen to rule out more serious issues (yes, even after emailing photos and various phone calls). It's just comforting to have access to your surgeon to give you peace of mind. I have read too many horror stories on Real Self about seromas and hematomas 4-5 weeks out that the GP didn't want to deal with, and other plastic surgeons wanted to charge a pretty fee to resolve.

One of my friends who traveled for surgery also had to pull her own drain out for similar reasons. As a person who was still carrying a drain around a 4 months post-op, I can't even imagine that. Just things to consider. They may never come up, but for me, they were important.

Thank you so much for your reply. I am confused, did you have surgery overseas? If so, what complications did you have.

Thank you ,

Tammy

I did not. I was just adding in a consideration that I had regarding not traveling abroad.
