Uggh, I think I've developed a seroma at 7 weeks post op
I'm not even released to take a bath yet. I was hoping that by 8 weeks (next week) I'd be released to go into water, since we have a weekend trip to the lake planned next weekend. As of right now it looks like I'll be lounging in the shade on the beach instead of frolicking in the water with my kids.
Update, my surgeon ordered an ultrasound, which I scheduled for tomorrow morning.
In the meantime, I had ordered a new abdominal binder from Amazon because the one I was using was just old and icky after being worn everyday for 2 months. Let me tell you, I don't believe I have a seroma anymore. The new compression, which is AWESOME, has really forced out a lot of the swelling and it looks great.
I'm still going to the ultrasound even though I don't think I need it, because I'm not a doctor and if my surgeon was unsure, I can't be completely 100% sure, right?
Anyway, this new abdominal binder is AWESOME! It's super cheap, and it's 3 pieces, which allows for you to adjust where you need the compression. Here's a link to the one I ordered. I highly recommend one of these binders.
Well, the results are in. I DO have a seroma. It is small, and the doctor doesn't think that we should do anything to it. He said opening me up and draining it would be worse than keeping compression and letting it resolve on it's own. So, I'm wearing my binder for another month.
I've been released to go swimming and resume normal activity, with my binder. Just in time, since we're going to Lake Michigan tomorrow. Doc said I could take my stuff off and go swimming. So exciting!
