Uggh, I think I've developed a seroma at 7 weeks post op
I just had my last drain pulled last Thursday, it was draining less than 25ccs a day. Now, I noticed this morning that my right side, up next to my belly button, has a big swollen area that wasn't there before the drain was pulled. I'm still in compression garments.
I see my surgeon again tomorrow and I'm terrifed that he's going to tell me that I do have a seroma. I just want to be on the road to healing, and all my incisions are closed and healing good. I don't want to have to have a seroma drained and another JP drain inserted.
Has anyone developed a seroma this far out? They comfirmed that everything looked good last week, but now I'm paranoid.
How big is the spot? Does it move like a waterbed when pressed? I wouldn't be too concerned about having another drain put in. If you were draining at less than 25ccs a day, and just now noticed the spot that does end up to be a seroma (a week after the drain was pulled), they likely wouldn't put another drain it - just remove fluid with a needle.
I understand your frustration though. I'm going on 3 weeks on Friday with one implant that refuses to drop, and a drain that's still going strong with 80ccs a day. We must be on the slowly, but surely path of recovery. :)
Please let us know how it goes tomorrow!

I always think warm Epsom salt soaks or compresses are the best for drawing anything out. As warm and as often as you can do it.
I had a seroma on my leg several weeks after surgery and the drain being pulled. I had a fever on and off. Doc had me doing sitz baths/ quick shallow Epsom salt baths. It kind of popped and drained on its own from that. Kinda looked like I had been in a fight and lost. LOL. Then when I saw him, He needle drained it some more. Then it went away.
