When Can I Weigh In?
Okay. Okay. I realize that this post will likely speak more to my scale obsession than anything else but I had to ask:
For my post-plastics people, how long after surgery were you able to weigh in and get a "real" sense of what your weight actually is?
I haven't been able to stay off the scale, but am looking at the numbers on it with a grain of salt - knowing that fluids, swelling, etc. are contributing to me being at like, a solid 167 instead of my usual 160. That's fine and I'm totally okay with that.
I'm just curious about when it's typically safe to trust the scale again. After I'm all recovered, I'd like to work my way down to my low weight of 155. The nurse post-op advised me that my surgeon removed a "significant" amount of skin and tissue during my TT (I hope to find out specifics at my follow-up, tomorrow), and I'm curious when others' weight seems to have stabilized, post-plastics.
Thanks!!

Interesting question! I started weighing myself daily post-op a few days after surgery. Well, mostly daily. I was a bit spastic in the beginning and timing could be hard since I'd need to remember to weigh myself after waking up but before I put my garments back on!
Two days before surgery I weighed 164. I know he removed ~9 pounds. It took me about 3 weeks to see 155, which would be a loss of that 9 pounds. My TrendWeight link is in my signature below, though, so you can see how my weight went post-op. (Surgery on June 5th.)

Thank you! That was actually really helpful to see! I think I'll start tracking my weight again at around the 3-week mark and see what happens. I think also finding out how much I had removed will give me a better sense of where I should be stabilizing.
I do have to say, I feel like all I've been doing as I've been home is eating and moving nowhere near close to my usual 10,000 daily steps. That's making me just a little paranoid, but I'm trying to be more gentle with myself to allow for healing to happen.

I am 5.5 weeks post op and my weight jumps up and down 7 or 8 pounds, depending on how much water I'm holding. I have puffy feet again today, so my weight was up like 7 pounds. I'll be hitting the water pills hard this weekend and hope to get some of this water out of me.
I would say if you aren't having significant swelling, I'd say after a couple of week, you may be able to get a semi accurate weight.
Thank you! It looks like that 7-8 lbs. is mostly swelling so I will try to be patient with myself.
Good luck with the swelling you are experiencing! Are you taking water pills in addition to drinking a lot of water, or due to a lower water intake - if you don't mind me asking?
