Totally understandable. Mine still can climb into my lap, if he's careful, so cuddling is not an issue. I hope you figure it out. I'm 5 weeks post op and feeling so good about what my body looks like now.

When were you able to do for yourself? Like shower and bathroom etc?

I did my toilet business on my own from the beginning, but needed help getting into and out of my compression garments for a few weeks. You pretty much live in them, so you don't have to get out of them throughout the day, unless you have to poop, and that's a huge pain. Get a shower chair, so you can sit in the shower.

I just had a tummy tuck though, not a full LBL, so I don't know what that would be like. Maybe Gwen can chime in.

I was able to toilet by myself the entire time, although I did "leak" a few times when I didn't get out of my chair soon enough. I used washable bed pads in every chair/bed for the first many weeks for oozing of wounds or bowels.

I also needed help getting my garments on and that lasted about 4 weeks. I could get them off myself, just not on.

For showering I had a shower chair and shower wand. I needed someone else to wash me for the first two weeks probably. After that I could bathe myself. Initially I had to do this while sitting, but I gradually got to the point where I could stand as normal. I was happy for my super short hair during this recovery!

I did need help getting in and out of my chair for the first week, but the riser on the toilet helped for toileting.

I'll echo Gwen's sentiment. I had just a tummy tuck with lipo and am restricted from lifting anything over 5 lbs. for 6 weeks. Not worth the risk! I would recommend waiting until you can get the child care.
