I am 27, mom to 2 very young boys. I have no had weight loss surgery. At my heaviest I weighed 247lbs and my lightest 127. Currently sitting at 130. I had a plastic surgery consult back in 2012 and was told I was a great candidate but was recommended to wait until we were done having kids. 2 babies in 12 months and now we are done. So now to restart the dream of not having all this skin everywhere! I want to do it all at once like I was originally recommended. Can anyone share their experience? When would I be able to care for my boys (will be 2 and 1) by myself? Any other advice and insight would be most appreciated :)

Hiya.

Having just had a LBL 7 weeks ago, I really can't imagine doing that and a medial thigh lift at the same time. First, my understanding is that the suture tension from the LBL and the medial thigh lift pulls in opposing directions, which would lead to an increased chance of wound separation. Second, considering the medial thigh lift has the highest chance of complications it seems like it would be very challenging to move without the use of your legs or abdomen. You'd have your arms at least..

Then there's the time in surgery as the LBL itself is a very time-consuming procedure. I think I would side eye a surgeon who was happy to do the medial thigh lift at the same time as an LBL.

You would have lifting restrictions for at least 6 weeks, perhaps more, which would make childcare for a 1 and 2 year old challenging.

I'll probably go for the LBL first and then figure out how and when to do thighs after.

That would make sense to me as the LBL can include thigh lipo to make the medial thigh lift more effective later!

Do you think I'd be able to be alone with my kids 24/7 after 3 weeks? I'd really only lift in and out of the tub and into and out of the truck. 30lbs each

Nope. No lifting for at least 6 weeks.

You might need to wait until they're older or arrange for assistance.

I had a tummy tuck with muscle repair and I'm on a 10 pound lifting restriction for 8 weeks. I have a 3.5 year old and so far I haven't really had a problem. I can't pick him up, but he's able to do most everything for himself, like climbing in and out of the car and car seat. I still buckle him, etc. The ONLY problem I've had was when we were out together and he had to pee. He sits down on the potty to pee still, and trying to get him up onto a public toilet was a challenge.

I'd wait until your youngest was able to get in and out of the car seat themselves, or that your oldest could help the baby get into and out of things with your supervision.

Thanks :). My 1 year old stands on the toilet seat to pee in public but at home has a little urinal but needs help onto the toilet to #2. He can get into the truck but not his seat. Being only 12 months apart helping eachother isn't really realistic. I may look into a nanny temporarily. I really don't want to wait anymore. Been waiting 6 years already :(
