Glue be gone!

My surgeon uses glue to seal up the incisions, which I think is awesome but, OMG, when will it fall off! I'm tired of feeling like I have crazy glue all around my abdomen!

The glue on my arms is probably 50% gone at this point - primarily it has fallen off through the armpit first, which makes sense as this is the area that gets the most movement. My abdominal glue is still about 85% of what it started at. A little bit more flakes off every day, but in teeny patches. I'm pretty proud of myself for not picking at it, since I'm a picker...

While I'm totally cool with having glue instead of steri strips, at least steri strips tend to fall off in like 10 days :P

I'm pretty thrilled with how the incisions are looking so far, where the glue has come off. I think this is one of the challenges with plastics - you can't actually see instant results between the swelling and sutures and everything else. Well, you can see a good inkling of results, but not the final product.

At 6 months, my scar is really flat but still quite red. I'm using silicone sheets hoping they will fade it quicker, but I have NO IDEA if they are having an effect (have been using them for about 2.5 months now).

My surgeon used glue and internal dissolving stitches. I think it took a long time for mine to all fall off, too. Towards the end I picked at it, which was probably not a good idea

When I take my garments off I run my hands over the glue lines in hopes that some will flake off and do the same when I'm washing in the shower. Four weeks just seems like forever. Especially for some of the places that show no sign of moving any time soon!

My surgeon told me to use Vaseline on the glue lines to get the glue off, and it worked, after a few applications while showering. What it did to the shower stall is another story.

Haha! I'm sure baby/mineral oil would work too.

The glue might be annoying but you'll be happy when you don't end up with suture lines!

Actually, the major annoyance is that the glue remaining is not the glue that's on the incisions themselves. It's the glue that's on the skin around the incisions. I only have about an inch of glue left on actual incision line.

Adhesive stuff always takes FOREVER to come off my skin. Once that remaining inch comes off, I'll have fun attacking my skin with baby oil :P
