12 days post op tummy tuck and mastoplexy
They say that the drains usually stay in for about 2 weeks or so, but it all depends on the output. I have a small hematoma, and I'm still draining a lot on the right side, so I expect it will be another week or two before that one will come out. The left drain is starting to stop draining, and I'm hoping that it will come out the next time I see my surgeon.
As far as recovery, it depends on what you mean by recovery. I'm back to work now after 2 weeks off, but I have a desk job. I'm on lifting restriction of 10 pounds for 8 weeks. I can't stand up straight yet, though my surgeon has encouraged me to try to stand as straight as I can without hurting myself.
Good luck, I hope everything works out for you.
I just had a lower body lift and brachioplasty. I only had drains in my abdomen and they were removed at day 8 post-op.
Recovery time is really dependent on the person, since pain is dependent on the person. It took about 2.5 weeks for my brain to feel 90% functional. I can't exercise beyond walking for 6 weeks. I'm 32 days post-op now and still get tired if I do too much in a day but I'm fairly self-sufficient at this point.
I should add - for my next surgery, upper body lift and breast lift, my surgeon says there's a 50/50 chance I'll need drains, but they normally come out in a week or two. For the last surgery, the thigh lift, I'll definitely have drains.

So I'm 5'4" which means normal BMI for me is 145. I was 165 on the day of surgery and I'm now at 150. The surgeon said he removed 9 pounds.
In retrospect, I'm glad that I didn't get to my goal (120) prior to surgery because I would have had no reserves for my body to use for healing. And... if I'd dropped 15 pounds? I'd be at what, 105 now? That would be not very healthy at all.
But at some point I had the realization that I wouldn't be able to reach my goal with my excess skin so I'm glad I did a consult with the plastic surgeon when I did! Worst case is that I'll keep losing weight and, somewhere long down the road, have a revision to my lower body lift. This was a risk I was willing to accept.
(My starting weight was also 320.)

My highest weight was 260, I am supposed to weigh about the same but already I can feel bones and ribs, I just have fat over them, which is probably why the scale really isn't moving. I am in the process of trying to build muscle, especially since I lost my butt. I have a little fat on my back, but I can't tell if what I have is fat or loose skin on my thighs and arms. Stomach is definitely both, but I'm not really concerned with my arms and thighs.
