Okay people... please talk to me about the thigh lift. It's funny - my next surgery is the upper body lift and breast lift and I'm not worried about it at all. But for some reason I'm getting fearful of my thigh lift which isn't even until November!

What is recovery really like? Tell me all the nitty gritty. What was your mobility like? What was walking like?

I know it will be okay because there are people here who have done it, survived, and are happy with having done it. But I just need to hear it. Good and the bad.

Thank you.

I've had 2 lifts. Spiral which was from behind thigh along groin to hip. Second medial which went from knee to groin. Thigh lifts have the highest rate of complications. I ended up dehising wound in one groin and needed surgery to close then had cellulitis which required another hospital stay. That bei g said it did not stop me from doing the second lift. It is painful. If you didn't need to.sit on a toilet it would not have been bad.. more painful then tt. Worth it in the end

Oh yes, I should specify that I'm talking about a medial lift. Lateral lift was done in conjunction with the LBL for me. Thank you for bringing that to my attention!

What sort of movement did you need to be careful of? Do you think that having one of those "she-wee" things would have been useful? (The tools that let those without penises pee standing up?) Of course, that wouldn't do anything for pooping, but it might alleviate some of the needing to sit on the toilet.

Or would a raised toilet seat have helped?

Raised toilet seat and rails for sure. Don't push stills. Lots of stress on body

I'm having the same Surgery, likely in October, and was going to post the same question so thank you for this.

My PS said my incisions would be "T" shaped, from mid-front groin crease around to mid-rear crease under each buttock and inner thigh groin to knee. So far, what I've read suggests a female urinal is a great help and I'll likely rent a toilet riser, and, concentrate on keeping that typically 'moist' area as dry as possible (along with the expected compression, wound management, drains, etc) I was told 6-8 weeks out of commission, too. Sounds scary AF but many of the 'after' pics I've seen on RealSelf.com look like it's completely worth it.

I'm interested to hear responses.

The only surgery I wouldn't go for, but then my thighs are not that bad. I've seen some really horrible complications over the years.

Me too. I could do TT, breasts, arms, lbl and inner thigh. But really, I can live with all the other, but the thighs are eye sores and I am active in summer sports where I wear shorts. I don't want them to be down to the knee like this year. It seems like this is usually the last surgery people have so I really have to make up my mind what I "need".

Dr M told me it was the hardest recovery in the sense that it has the highest rate of minor complications... in terms of suture lines opening a little from stress which I got as well as I got a seroma.

A week after surgery trying to pick up something with my stiff legs.... I had my infamous fall...don't do that :).

It has it challenges, and while the improvement is tremendous, I thought it would be even more. But I also have older skin

I kind of wish I skipped the thigh lift all together. I just had small thigh lift with scars only on my bikini line and I feel like the impact was minimal. The doctor kind of warned me beforehand but I was stubborn. It is a balance between results and scars. My scar is not noticible to anyone, but I still have sag. So eh - wish I skipped the pain.

I've seen results from people who got the full lift a couple years later and the scars were faded a bunch and their legs looked great.

Good Luck -- I hope you get the results you want!
