The Dreaded "What to Take to the Hospital" Post!

Prior to VSG I'd seen a lot of posts about what to take to the hospital, so I never needed to ask. But I haven't seen information about this for plastic surgery!

I was thinking I'd just take:

chapstick
iPhone
long charging cable, charging block, USB battery if I can't reach a socket easily
Kindle
Clothes to wear home
Drugs I was advised to bring by my surgeon
Glasses case
Paperwork (living will, medical power of attorney)

I think that's about it. Is there anything else that you think I should take?

Sounds good. I did not bring much. I wore flip flops because I did not want to mess with having to put shoes on. I also brought a pillow.

Was the pillow for the ride home?

Flip flops seem like a good idea. I was thinking about Tevas because it's easier for someone else to velcro my shoes on me than to tie my shoes on me, but flip flops would be even easier!

Yes, but I am also picky about pillows. I take my pillow everywhere

FWIW, I was very thankful to have a big pillow to rest my arms on during the car ride home.

Congratulations on the upcoming surgeries. It's very exciting!! Don't forget to take "Before" pics of every area before the first surgery - You'll be amazed at the changes as the surgeries progress.

Don't anticipate being very mobile (reaching, lifting, bending, etc) so have what you need at finger tips , including chargers/batteries. You will be tightly bound for sure.

All the above items are spot on. I also took:

- button or zipper sleeveless clothing. The easier to step in/out of, the better. Imagine if you couldn't lift your arms or bend today, what would you put on?

- throat lozenges (because the tubes made my throat sore)

- lotion, toothpaste/brush, deodorant (usual overnight toiletries). I also took face wipes because I tend to get oily skin.

- earplugs (so very noisy, but again personal preference, you may prefer ipod headphones)

+1 for slip on shoes. There will be swelling/fluid and you'll need something loose and easy to get on/off when walking around as well as leaving the hospital.

- Pillow in car, because seat belts.

Excited for you!

I was in the clinic for 7 days, wish I had a short thin robe. I also took protein bars to keep up my protein. I also, had my own pillow. It's easier to get comfortable with extra pillows. I had a little netbook for the internet. Didn't use my phone as I was in Mexico. Used skype to talk to my kids and mom.

7 days in a clinic! That sounds boring LOL

I did it in Mexico as well, but it was only one night in the hospital and then the rest of the time in the 5 star hotel at least.

On Thursday, I had a LBL, BL, arms, sm thigh. Could have gone back on Sun, but it was easier to keep me on Monday had a full facelift. Went to the hotel on Wed, home the following Wed. I had 24/7 care and internet. Plus, good food. My mons drain was really leaking, so Dr Sauceda really didn't want me moving around too much.

I recommend front zip clothing. I used robes and zip sweatshirts they were a life saver. I did not want to get dressed. I was only in over night I didn't need much. I took a zip robe to wear home and it was perfect. Flip flops are perfect too.
